Rumors the Hornets might be interested in Josh Smith

I think I'm the only one who actually like this idea of adding Smith; other than his contract.

Smith is a PF!!!; fug the he can't be a stretch4 poo. He's an effective low post player and shot blocking/defensive presence that would go well with Jefferson inside.

Smith is the perfect player and an upgrade to replace McRob. His passing abilities would free Kemba and Lance for more open shots outside.

Smith was bad last year bc he was forced to play the 3 which isn't his position. He took a lot of clunkers due to that. It was a bad fit from the start for both Smith and Monroe.

In no hell would I give up MKG, but I think a deal of Hendo, Biyombo, and pick(s) would do it.

Smith and Lance should make our defense + passing game even better.

At the 4 I assume? Would you trade MKG for him?

Hell no!

I would send Hendo/Neal + Biz/Zeller, and a pick only. I think that's a fair enough deal for Detroit especially for them to be able to dump Smith's contract.

Imagine our defense next year with Lance, MKG, and Smith on the same team.

Good luck trying to get ball movement out of that offense.

Does it not concern you that every place Josh Smith has been the team gets BETTER once he leaves? Detroit included once they can get rid of him.

You can't just brush off "stretch 4" like it's nothing. That's what Clifford wants in his offense and that's not what josh Smith is. Heck im not even sure josh smith knows what he is. Let it go.

Josh Smith is literally the opposite of a stretch four. He is a historically bad 3 point shooter, yet he continues to chuck them like he can make them. Contracts aside, I would rather have Marvin than Josh Smith. He fits what we want to do, and isn't a chucker.

Take a look at his stats from last year:

26% 3P% on 3.4 shots per game. 26% is legendarily bad for someone who took 265 three pointers in a season.

How are you not going to get ball movement when you Lance and Smith both are probably better passer than Kemba?

Smith is pretty similar McRob. I'm not sure if McRob is the prototypical stretch 4 too.

Is there a way he could redo his contract?

Not a chance or less than.00000018413%

I remember a few years ago christian lanetter getting a couple million to come out of retirment and complete a trade(didn't even get a number). Money has to be close, nba rules unless a a team has a trade expection......

    • Looking like it might be game 7 for Pitt and Phi. Philly is spent. I like more rest for the canes
    • Moton is the man through and through. 2 things I'll always give Gettleman credit for, 1 is drafting Moton, the other is building a SB contending roster and blowing it up in one off-season
    • Kurb is still alive and well.  I’m still friends with him on all of the social media.  He truly is a great man!  That’s my bro!  He always looked out for me since the early days of the huddle.  It definitely makes me sad that he just quit posting here, but that’s life.  He still shares his takes on social media and X, but a lot of the huddle vets just grew tired of this format and the environment, I guess?  It’s a lot of guys that were valuable contributors here that just stopped posting but are still alive and passionate Panthers fans.  Blindsite used to post huge write-ups and was a well-respected poster and then just disappeared.  We had one of these type threads several years ago and he checked back in and explained he just lost the motivation to stay active here.  It was amazing hearing from him again…   I signed up in 04 after coming over from the Charlotte.com boards and been here ever since.  (For those that don’t know - this is Proudiddy - had to change the name very recently due to ‘ol tootsie roll penis and the bad press 😂).  I’m forever thankful for all of you, even those who I haven’t had the greatest history with, I still appreciate yall.  Many have come and gone, both figuratively and literally, and that has put a lot into perspective over the years.  I went from a young, newly married, wide-eyed twenty year-old guy with a baby on the way, to a now forty-two year-old guy, recently divorced and newly re-married guy with my oldest baby now an adult and 5 more kids since.  And what ride it has been!  You guys have been a much bigger part of my life than I really care to acknowledge.😂
