Smitty may be even more pissed than we thought (Panthers related)

steve smith had slipped into a sort of complacency after last year based on comments made offhand.

make no mistake: this level of motivation wouldn't have been here if he'd stuck around with the panthers this season. honestly this may have been the best thing we could've done for his HOF bid. he'll probably get another two or three years of decent production.

How was he complacent?

It's Panther related because Smitty is directly referencing us, and sort of suggests his whole mindset this year is proving a point to the entire Panther nation (more specifically Gettleman)... especially our upcoming game right around the corner.

Isn't a thread usually made when a player from another team mentions us, you know, "bulletin board material"? Just so happens it's Steve Smith this time.

I apologize you are right. I jumped the gun thinking that this was another Steve Smith had a catch so let's make a thread, thread.

This is absolutely Panther related because of what he said to the camera.

I will always love the guy, but fug Steve Smith for this. He acts like such a victim. He wasn't the team first player that just got railroaded like he always makes himself out to be. He brought his cut partially on himself.

Honestly this video brought a smile to my face. I always loved the fire Smith used to have and I hoped he kept it with him. Clearly this video confirms it.

I wish Steve Smith the best and I hope he has a great season, but I hope week 4 is the worst performance he's ever had in his NFL career. I hope White/Cason shut him down like never before.

The Smitty I know never lacked for motivation, but to each his own opinion.

I actually think this is a perfect matchup for Norman.

The difference in a typical SS smack talk matchup is that I don't think the coaches ask their guys to do it. I think Rivera needs to tell Norman to keep going and going and going with Smitty. Don't stop and just get in his head and rough him up.

Make him pull that poo where he doesn't run his route he just gets into a wrestling match instead.

    • If we lose tomorrow we’d have to sweep the Bucs in order to get into the playoffs. With a loss tomorrow the Bucs would then hold the tie breaker if we finished tied If we can’t split with NO then we sure as hell not sweeping Tampa It’s win or go home tomorrow in my eyes  Biggest game since 2017 playoff game imo
    • Grok AI: No, there are no credible reports that the Carolina Hurricanes offered Jake Guentzel the same contract terms as Tampa Bay (7 years, $63 million total, $9 million AAV) before he signed with the Lightning. Reliable sources, including The Athletic, consistently reported that Carolina’s offer during negotiations was an eight-year deal worth $64 million ($8 million AAV). Guentzel did not accept it promptly, leading the Hurricanes to trade his negotiating rights to Tampa Bay on June 30, 2024, for a 2025 third-round pick. He then quickly signed the 7x$9M deal with the Lightning on July 1, 2024. Guentzel himself later reflected (in 2025 interviews) that staying in Carolina was his initial preference, but negotiations stalled and “didn’t work out,” with Tampa’s opportunity becoming a “no-brainer.” No reports from outlets like ESPN, NHL.com, or insiders (e.g., Elliotte Friedman, Pierre LeBrun, Frank Seravalli) indicate Carolina ever matched or offered the Lightning’s exact terms—total money, AAV, or length. The extra year was Carolina’s key advantage, but they reportedly stuck closer to $8M AAV and moved on when Guentzel explored options.
