What do you wear to a lunch interview?

if you have short sleeved button ups you need to throw those out immediately. NEVER wear those anywhre. Same thing with cargo shorts, jorts, white belts, affliction shirts, etc.

I have interviewed about 20 software developers in the last month. Personally I don't care what someone wears as long as they seem quasi-intelligent and I don't get the feeling they will go postal on my office in a few months. Good hygiene also is a plus.

Having said that many interviewers will go for the better dressed of two similar applicants. Thus, I would suggest to dress to impress.

I would say a $200 shirt to a job interview for an engineer would make them think you don't need the job. lol

Depends on the type of engineer.
