Shula Has To Go Soon

Sure, it's not entirely Mike's fault. I mean it's not like Gettleman has gave him much to work with. But on the other hand I know someone with a better football mind can use the strengths of Cam and co. much better. This has just been ugly; who runs the ball on fuging 3rd and 8? Much less with what we have at OL and RB. So question is, with Chudzinski now listed as a Special Assistant for Indy, do you think there's any chance we could bring him back? He knows most of the players on this offense and could do a much better job with them IMO.

Bring back Chud. Why do people here hate him so much?' Sure he went full stupid some games, but he finally reeled it in and we finished the season strong. Ive said this a million times, we do not have the defense NOR the running game NOR the oline to run a Shula offense. Literally every single one of our RBs are out, thats Chuds wet dream come true right there seeing as how he hates utilizing RBs anyway.

Bring back 2011 Chud and the two TE sets and live and die by the high octane passing offense. Our D is playing like ass now anyway. Might as well try to win shoot outs.

Cam is a waaay better QB and better passer now than he was a couple years ago. Him, Cam and KB would do wonders together. With Dwil, Tolbert and Stewie out anyway, that takes the pressure off Chud to feel forced to have to use RBs, now he could truely do what he wants to do. Chud knows Cam, knows this personnel, knows Ron and would be a seamless transition. Mark my words, Rivera is giving serious thought to bringing Chud back, he just wont say it publicly

As much as we crap on Shula, we have a ton of evidence Chud was a problem. DWill and Smitty took multiple shots at him after he left. RR commented that the hardest part about being a new HC was building a cohesive coaching staff (hint the only significant change was Chud). Reportedly he ran through plays only once during practice and didn't bother to check if players were comfortable with it.

There's a reason he was fired mid-season in Cleveland. Chud is just too much of a headache to justify his "genius".

You can't argue with results. This Carolina passing offense was top 10 both seasons he was here, had a top 10 passing offense with Cleveland (who I think is stupid for letting him go so quick), etc. And please don't pull the record card. We were trending up with Chud and he seemed to be getting better in his 2nd year. Cam has matured as a person and passer, we now have Kelvin, and we have 3 tight ends who aren't being used right. Shula out, Chud in! I'm all for it. You know Chud loves those two tight end sets. Besides, you already know our running game isn't going to do anything this year. Might as well go with an all out air attack this year.

This isn't true at all. We were 5th in 2011, but went to 18th in 2012. Browns were ranked 27th last year.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
