Kelvin Benjamin named NFL Offensive Rookie for September

It was hard to understand why he was so low in the mock drafts. I only saw KB in the Clemson - FSU game and just a little in the title game.  Did he have several bad games in the interim? Because it was clear to anybody watching he was going to be an NFL stud just based on those two games.

KB was knocked due to drops, lack of elite speed, and a pedestrian vertical.

So essentially no Megatron type player. Taking a slight gamble with him and hope he turns into a great possession / redzone WR.

Drops...has had a few but apparently not an issue or coachable by the Master Ricky considering his recent awards.

Elite speed...see Jerry Rice and above statement.

Pedestrian vertical....SS#89 jumping 36" inches off the ground equals KB standing on his tip toes.

Why you hate so much on this team and yet spend so many useless hours on here is beyond anyone, including me.

I'll leave you with these.

Discussing his shortcomings or giving excuses is another topic altogether.

Someone wanted to know why KB was not a top pick. I listed those reasons.

Not sure why you have your panties up in a wad.

Everything I said was FACTS to KB's draft negatives

Drop problem - check

No elite speed - check

Peristrain vert - check

None of which means he cant be a great player. Even without speed or a vert he can still be a nightmare with his size as a possession and jump ball WR. He just will never really be able to take the top off the D on top of the other things like Megatron can. But not many people can do all that anyway.

Why do I hate on this team?

Why do you confuse hating with merely discussion things without homer glasses?

I love the Panthers and for the record I love KB.

I was worried about the pick at first as he was raw with the issues I mentioned, but he has certainly proved the doubters wrong up until now.

In fact right after the draft, I said I would have taken KB at 28 knowing off the OT's that would still be on the board later in the draft.

The only "hating" I do on this forum is for Shula. In which it is deserved.

Someone will just jump the gun when they hear any negative comments about players they love, even when those comments are just others quoted ideas.

No Medellin Heal was a HATER, and whined on and on after the Panthers picked Benjamin,, even weeks later and during the season. So don't buy his act.

I won't even take the time or effort to illustrate why the things he listed wouldn't necessarily make a player drop, and what was more specific for Kelvin Benjamin, and why he could/would drop.

But it doesn't matter.

Lets see,

Yea I really didnt like KB. So much that I had him in my dream mock in the FIRST round.

Additionally, I had him in my draft redo.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
