Im not talking straight 6 diesels for 3/4 ton trucks. They are putting gasoline turbo 6's in the new light duty(f-150s, 1500s) instead of v8s

Iys crazy how great the performance of small diesels are in Europe. Ive always heatd it was our strict emissions standards that screwed us

I'm also interested in the new f-150, they've added the 2.7L twin turbo with direct injection.  No mpg yet but they say it can do anything the v8 can do with better mileage.

4 cyl turbo diesel > v6 turbo gasser

& it's not even close

We'll see. Diesel repairs are exponetially more expensive long term. The duramaxs already have major injector flaws

The turbo v6 will also be more powerful than a 2.8 turbo diesel, dont kid yourself. Colorados are tiny

This. I had my Tahoe in the shop and they gave me a Colorado loaner. I'm 6'6" @ 270 and this was the worst mid-size truck I've ever sat in, rode in or driven. A total piece of junk. I'd take a Ranger, Frontier or a Tacoma over a Colorado. And I've owned a lot of GMs in my time.

Personally the crew cab Tacoma is the only small truck i would ever own. Im all American though, all the way to my 66 vette 327.

The early 00s Duramax had injector problems. They were also about the shittiest Diesel engine ever mass produced. Newer Duramax engines aren't Isuzu made garbage like those. And they been proven durable in Europe the past few years.

No, it won't. The Colorado will have over 350lb tq stock. V6 gas turbo won't be anywhere near that. People take tiny 4 cylinder Cummins 4BT diesels & crank out over 700lb tq. It's very easy to make power with diesel. Much easier than with a v6 gasser. Diesels also are far more fuel efficient. Unless you're simply talking about speed? Sorry, speed is the last thing a truck is built for.

What does a POS Colorado designed in the 90s have to do with the new Colorado? Yeah, the 05-12 U.S. Colorado was junk. It was also a vehicle designed in the 90s & used in Europe, then thrown together in the US to turn a quick buck.

The 2015 Colorado is a totally different platform. It's state-of-the-art & will be the head of the class for midsize trucks & suvs. FYI, I'm a European guy who dislikes American vehicles, especially Chevrolet. Only Chevy I've ever owned is a '67 Camaro. I've owned a 2012 Tacoma, & the new Colorado is going to be much better than the Toyota or any other offering in it's class.
