You cannot blame DWill's freak injury on the line. All RBs have to break tackles. If they can't break a tackle or two, they are not going to last long in the NFL.

You were very upset at the draft because we didn't draft a Tackle. You haven't let off the gas all year. Any perceived slight you can throw at the line, you jump right on it.

If this team stops shooting themselves in the foot. We would be winning games. Nothing soothes a fans ire as much as winning.

getting whooped at the point of attack and whiffing on blocks isn't shooting yourself in the foot...it's being a bad football player

Yup. The only ones making mistakes this year is the O-line.

12 men on the field negates a Red Zone 1st down.

12 men on the field negates a punt and give Pitt a 1st down.

Muffed punt for a TD.

Pass Interference negates a punt.

Block in the back negates a 1st down and we get a FG.

Missed tackles and gap assignments hurting the Defense.

Yup, the only ones making mistakes are the O-line.

well we're talking about the running game and i'm blaming the Oline so yea in context of that discussion the o line being awful is responsible.

as far as all the other stuff you brought up out of nowhere that has nothing to do with the running game or the oline. those are all true. it's a team effort to be this bad in back to back weeks

We have not had a great run blocking offensive line since the 'roid boys of '03.

We have tried to lay the groundwork but our star RT pick was an embarrassing failure of a man with a spine made of pudding.

We have done the next best thing and have been in perpetual "quick fix" mode since the Otah experience blew up in our faces.

That is to put two/three/seven very capable backs on the roster and trade them in and out with a run heavy game plan until the defense is tired of chasing and tackling late in the game. (There is a little more going on here but not much that gets in the way of my point)

This is not a long term fix. Eventually injury will take away one or both or ALL of the weapons rendering the scheme exponentially less effective with the former and totally useless with the latter.

That is where we find ourselves now.

No run respect and a porous offensive line. Rush will kill us and zone blitz will confuse us. Our great defense will get tired every week and NO lead will be safe. It's important to remember that "tired" here also means tired of killing yourself for an offense that cannot sustain drives. Ask Julius about it.

This is simple math. The brass understand it fully hence the likes of Chris Ogbonnaya on our roster.

I fully expect G-man to address the OLine in next year's draft with the first or second (or both) picks. Until then, the reality is, is this what we have. The sooner everyone accepts this, the happier they'll be. Or, they can just keep bitching about it every week to make themselves somehow feel better.

I don't expect a trade anytime soon, and hopefully the guys can pull it together to become at least serviceable. I don't know.. maybe time will help them gel throughout the season? That's all we can hope for at this point.
