The difference in the defense yesterday was the offense.  They were on their heels all day and the offense struggled.  Then we score on our last possession before half and the first possession in the second half and suddenly the defense is playing angry and like they did last year.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.  The offense coming back and giving the defense something to play for fired them up and turned around the game.  They work together.

14 of bears points came on really short fields.  they only moved the ball down field once.  Cutler completed like one pass that he attempted over 10 yards and two of them were picked off.  it was getting to be a joke early with all the crazy turnovers but that missed field goal we turned to 7 points at the end of the half was the turning point.

Im no expert, but it seemed yesterday that once we put luke on forte, chicago was toast. Our d is so much better when Luke and td arent blitzing as much. Teams exposed us but looks as if we have adjusted

Don't forget, Cam played some Defense too!

Blocking on a running play is not "playing defense"......even though it was a great play.

 

We had a couple of Bears fans sitting next to us and were VERY impressed by that play.

yea not sure why we kept blizting every 3rd down, they knew it was coming and beat us with little screens.  we certainly mixed it up better in the second half.

Not really. I saw nothing that convinced me that our defense of old has regained that spark of last year.

I hate to play Negative Nancy but we still were having fundamental issues in the first half.

 

Idk man, that 2nd half really turned things around. Two of their scores was from great field position, and once was that blitz I believed was called on a screen

 

Our biggest weakness was the run game and we contained that. We're still missing Hardy, but you have to be somewhat confident in what you saw

If we hold Cincinnati to 14 points next week, I'll be more confident. At the moment however, I don't trust this defense anymore. This is a game where I believe the opposition shot themselves in the foot and we benefited from the spoils.

The Panthers shot themselves in the foot vs the Ravens and Steelers and the loss was still as bad I don't know why if the opposition does it the win should be treated any different. Its all about capitalizing on your chances and put a W on the record book.

Panthers defense stopped sitting in a 43 and relying on a straight rush from the DL.

They started the game in a 46. Then they dropped into a hybrid 52. They had 2 LBs press the 2i technique. One would drop into coverage and the other would rush giving you a 52 and keeping 2 LBS free from an OL.

They dropped back to a 43 when the Bears were in passing downs.

They also stunted more to bring pressure from their DTs.
