Active player with the most rushing TDs in a single season?

Recommended Posts

Barry Sanders had no offensive line and made things happen.

Deangelo and Stewart obviously had a dominate line for a couple years and when that fell apart they lack the ability to create anything for themselves minus something here and there.

Otah was a monster, yes he got hurt and all that, but on the field he was a road grater.  Remember we had so many good offensive lineman we were letting our backups go to other teams for starting caliber contracts?  Those were the days.....

I'm sorry but I have to strongly disagree with the Barry Sanders comparisons.

I do remember at one point DW being in an elite group of backs (I think DW, Barry Sanders, Jim Brown) that averaged 5.0 ypc. Not saying he's in Barry Sanders territory but that was always impressive. I think that has dipped way down to like 4.5-4.6 now, which goes to show how much the glory days of DW are in the rear view mirror.

None other than our very own DeAngelo Williams.

DeAngelo rushed for 1,515 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2008, tied for the 15th highest rushing TD total of all-time. Not bad for a small back who was splitting carries with a younger, bigger, and stronger short yardage back in Jonathan Stewart.

Interestingly enough, the 2008 season was Jonathan Stewart's rookie year, in which Stewart also added on 836 yards and 10 TDs of his own.

Man, the glory days of having two top 10 NFL RBs...

then rivera came and none of ourbacks even got more then 1000 yards
