We SHOULD win the NFC South

I will say this, we picked a good season to have a bad season. A lot of you think we are a unlucky team that never catches a break but its actually the opposite, what are the chances, the year we become a complete disaster.. Hardy, Cam and his surgery, Smitty distraction, injuries galore etc, the NFCs happens to be terrible and we are still atop in the NFCs

How do you figure... our offense has been equally as bad .

True for the running game but the passing game is average+ (Cam + Olsen is a magic duo, Cam + triple B wr corps is promising)

Don't get me wrong this is clearly not enough for the playoff and the superbowl

But how strong is the moral impact of a bad defense on the offense?

I try to be optimistic as often as I can about the team. Unfortunately the Panthers have become unreliable to the point that I have no idea what version of them will show up on game day. If the offense is clicking the defense isn't, if the defense is stepping up, the offense can't move the ball. I just want to sit down on Sunday and watch a game filled with a sense of pride and having the expectation that my team is gonna rock and roll. Whether or not Carolina wins the division (and I hope they do) there are still so many question marks about the leadership and heart of this team that has me dreading the inevitable let downs I have become so accustomed to with the team.

i've seen the literacy campaign efforts in western louisiana and i sympathize with your plight

The majority of my schooling was done in private schools. However, I did attend some of my high school in western North Carolina and some in New Orleans. The difference in the public education systems is stunning.

the only thing i would add htown, is that you need to include the Panthers as a .500 team for both the saints and falcons. if you are going to call them sub-.500, then we are .500 for them as well. its going to be tough to win the division as crappy as it is. every team knows every other team is struggling. i am just choosing to prepare for a loss, and be pleasantly surprised at whatever happens. if we get to the playoffs, my mentality will change. if we go on a tear (please God), my mentality will change. but until we start winning, i just cant add the weekendly stress to my life with everything else i have going on.

It's "not how it works" for purposes of ranking records. But it does work for the everyday, literal sense of what it means to win. If you disagree, you are committed to the view that the 0-0-16 team literally won 8 games.

You are so far down that hole I would be surprised if any light at all seeps in.

You are equating 0 wins to 8 wins to make a point? Cool.

Winning more games than you lose. Um...let me think...yupperz, that be a winning season.

And to make sure there is no misinterpretation. 0-0-16 would NOT be a winning season. Although it would NOT be a losing season either. So it would be the same as an 8-8 season. .500. Just a very sad .500.

Yes that is clearly a winning season.

Why do you guys search for ways to be disappointed? Not just you, but about 50% of this board

By any metric in existence, winning more games than you lose equates to a winning season. Some folks will try anything to share their unhappiness with the masses.

IMO, too many folks take football way too serially. It is entertainment. My Zod, do they throw a fit after sitting through a bad movie? Don't answer that, I don't think I could handle the truth.

I would hazard a guess that most of these...fans...would throw a fit after losing on Madden. They just expect things to go their way. Like they deserve a winning team. They sure seem to take it personally when we don't win.

Ah hellz, nevermind. Glad I never had kids. Cuz I sure know I couldn't handle having one that couldn't handle a little adversity in their life. Fuging Panther's can't win every game. Fug em'.

Ok end of rant.

I still disagree with you. In my view, a 2-1-13 season would not deserve to be called a winning season even though the team would have won more games than it lost (which is all you require for a winning season).

Edit: Just to be clear, my view is that a truly winning season is one in which you win more than half of the games you play.
