Do you think we are better off with lance or Gordon Hayward.

I know we can't change it anyways but I was super excited when we offered a max to GH. I

knew his game and thought it played in perfect.

PPG RPG APG

19.2 6.6 5.6

That stat like looks pretty damn nice

I'm not gonna say I'm against lance but up to this point he's really disappointed not only me but the fanbase. Atleast scoring wise.

PPG RPG APG

6.6 10.0 5.6

Now those assists and rebound numbers are pretty damn great for a sg but those ppg are not cool.

So would Gordon Hayward fit this team better. Would we be better off. I'm Not ready to say we are. But I wished we coulda got Hayward. But I think lance can start scoring more we will be pretty great. But what's your thoughts

They both fit fine. Lance has never played with a big guy like Al or a guard like Kemba, so we have 3 guys who need to touch the ball to be effective so it will take some time for them to sort out the best way to play off each other. I like Hayward but I love Lance's relentless approach to the game. Lance is not & may never be a 20 plus scorer .

watching the game, lance is having a large impact regardless of his turnovers and poor shooting, which will improve once he gets used to the system and his new teammates.

he is going hard on the defensive side and provides an energy this team needs. could you say the same about hayward? i was under the impression he is offensive minded. the hornets need to stay with their defensive strength imo. we can stretch the floor with out PG and bench SG play.

I like Lance a lot. He is just trying to figure out how to fit in this offense and sometimes he tries to do a bit too much.

As long as he doesn't pout when he makes a mistake or doesn't get a call on offense I have no problems with how he is playing.

His efficiency will go up, he just has to figure it out

IMO we tried to sign Hayward to such a large contract bc we knew he would fit in very well with his outside shooting. So far this season, albeit a small sample size, Lance has not shown his outside touch. I feel like he does good driving but his outside shot is not been on target yet.

Now I am happy with Lance and think he will continue to improve as the season goes along. I also believe we would have had growing pains with Hayward but overall to answer the question I still would have preferred Hayward but Im still very happy with Lance and he does have a larger upside.

QUIT!!!!!

Just fuggn QUIT!

I knew this was going to be brought up today. QUIT!

Literally the only one that added nothing. Just non sense.

It's something to talk about. And considering he was our first choice it is nice to discuss. Bc personal I was super pumped to have a chance at both.

And yes Hayward hit a game winning shot. That's not why I made this. But it did remind me we could have had him.

So instead of discounting everyone and Kemba. Why don't u get off your high horse and try to be slightly tolerable. K thanks

We might be able to have Curry in a couple years too.

Both have similar skills as far as ability to run the offense but Hayward would spread the floor more & open things up for Al & Kemba while Lance strength is his ability to get into the paint & create shots for his teamates. Neal,Roberts,Hairston,Zeller & Williams can stretch the floor.

It's five games.

Hayward looks good right now but that contract is going to hurt Utah in the long run. At the end of the day that core they are giving extensions to probably won't make the playoffs in the really good West, and I don't know if Haywards potential ceiling justifies that deal.

They are two different players and even though he hasn't found his shot yet Lance is still bringing alot to the table, a la MKG before this year. The financial flexibility the Hornets still have going forward IMO is so much better now.

Remember, you have to consider it's not just about Hayward vs. Stephenson. It's about Hayward vs. Stephenson with Hayward at almost twice the contract Stephenson has.

    • Let's be completely honest about this... Our WR room is AT and a bunch of question marks. Thielen is the only guy we know who knows the route tree completely, understands play calls and can regularly get open/beat close coverage when necessary. He's long in the tooth, isn't the speediest guy on the field but he plays like a pro, starting level wide receiver. Xavier, last season looked great at first, but man he kind of petered out down the stretch and would disappear in a number of games. He wasn't reliable on routes or getting open and where he was supposed to be a king at contested catches, he often looked a bit intimidated. I'm not saying he's a washout by any means. Anyone with his size, speed and catch radius could make it big in the NFL, but can he do it? He'll need to show more than he did in the preseason before we can really rely on him as a WR1 or WR2.  Coker was a revelation last season, he really played way above his (non)draft status and flashed multiple times in games and was a steady performer. What we need to find out, though, is whether he was benefiting from being an unknown that wasn't getting maximum effort from opposing DBs or if he was just outworking and outhustling everyone on the field. We should find out this season. We sure as hell didn't find out much in the pre-season (from him or any receiver or QB for that matter). He's still a question mark, but I think he has the look of the real deal. He might be this generation's next Thielen. Now, let's talk about Tet. High first round draft pick, first true WR off the board this year. Stellar career out west in college. Has the swagger of the WR1. And man, y'all are going to get mad about this but... he comes across as a mook. And in the pre-season he performed, well, not so great against poor opposition of second and third stringers. Yeah, he caught that one moonshot ball in the first game but really, nothing else lighting the place up. Rookie endzone drop in that game, too. He's still young and adjusting, I'm sure, but I was hoping to see something of a breakthrough kind of guy. I'm still looking. Hunter Renfro? Gosh, I hope he can make the team and make a comeback to his old form. It would be such a great story. But maybe neither one of those happens. We won't know until Tuesday and then, if he makes it past there it could be weeks. So, TL;DR: AT is all we can bank on right now. We couldn't afford to let him go considering the number of unknowns we'd be throwing out there for our QB, who himself is still an unknown. One thing to add: Our receivers coaching group has their work cut out for them. I hope they are up to the task, but the pre-season gave me little reason to believe in them. And I really need something to believe in here in Carolina.
    • Same I think Randsom is a baller..... hopefully we don't have to suffer through 4-8 games of Scott blowing azz to get him on the feild.
    • Linebacker is the biggest need - I hope we figure out a way to address it. Krys Barnes is the only one who even moderately flashed.  Super nervous about Trevin/Rozeboom as a duo (Still like Trevin) I'd be excited if we had a better vet to mentor Trevin.  Or a better younger guy to support Rozeboom.  They just don't fit well and it may be a big problem against the run, even with our DL much improved.
