Bored, so Here's my Mock

Well folks, the season is over and we need to clean house. This whole season has been terrible, and Ron will go from COTY to unemployed in less than a year. Quiet crazy. Anyway, to deal with this, I'm throwing up a mock draft in november

 

1. Amari Cooper - WR

 

 

Amari Cooper is our first pick. I believe that Brandon Scherff will be gone by the time we pick and I don't think we'll reach for Andrus Peat. Any other O-lineman really shouldn't be on the radar with a top 10 pick. Cooper really has it all, great speed, route running, and hands. Cooper is essentially a better Odell Beckham from last years draft and he went top 15. He is not going to be as elite as Randy Moss was, sorry Cris Carter, but he should be a good pro. Let's be real here, Kelvin is a GREAT option but he in no way should be the number 1 receiver with the drops he has and lack of separating skills (something that goes way back with him). Pairing Cooper up with Kelvin, Olsen, and whoever the fug we keep between Cotchery and Avant (I'd prefer Avant) should make a good receiving combo for our (hopefully) new OC that embraces 21st century football.

Other Options- Brandon Scherff (If he's still there he's the pick), Ifo Olomu, Landon Collins, Todd Gurley

 

2. Ereck Flowers - OT

 

 

Good God someone save this o-line. Flowers has first round talent but has been injured this year and has missed some games. We can't wait any longer to pull the trigger on an o-lineman. Ereck is a 6'6" 324 pound beast who would immediately be better than what we have at OT. Bell could become twice as good as he is now and Ereck could sit on his couch all offseason, and Ereck Flowers would still be the better option.

 

Other Options- Kurtis Dummond, Cameron Erving, Jake Fisher

 

3. Karl Joseph - SS

 

 

Joseph is a pretty good SS who should be gone in round 3. Tough and very physical, he's started all the games in his college career. Very versatile athlete who can rush the QB and put on pressure, as well as cover the slot receiver (which he has done well, albeit against not the toughest of competition). We can finally send Roman Harper to the retirement home with this pick.

 

Other Options- Sean Hickey, Mike Davis

 

4. Duke Johnson - RB

 

Duke is a good option at RB. He has been second team all ACC in 2012 and 2013, and is currently having his best season yet. So far he's rushed for over 1200 yards and 9 tds with the Hurricanes. We probably will finally cut D-will in the offseason, and when Stewart gets hurt again we can have Duke be serviceable.

 

5. Cody Riggs - CB

 

A good CB from university of notre dame. Transfer from Florida to Notre Dame and immediately became captain of a good Fighting Irish defense. Good size and speed. As norman and  benwikiware move outside, this guy could be our next slot man

 

6. Jemaria Rascou - DE

 

The 6'3" 247 pound LSU tiger could be a great addition to our DE rotation. Currently has 4 sacks on the year.

 

7. Rob Havenstein - OT

 

Depth at OT where we desperately need it. Wisconsin linemen turn out to be pretty good so why the hell not? Certainly better than having a DT playing RT. Though I fully expect Gettleman to sign a FA RT as starter.

 

So there you have it. As mentioned above, I expect some moves in FA for an OT this year with Hardy off the books, and we'll draft accordingly.

Love the first two picks.  I don't think Peat would be a reach, but it's hard to pass up on a guy like Amari Cooper.  From my perspective, he falls into the "once every 10 years" category of NFL prospects.  Duke Johnson will probably be gone by the early 2nd round.  A lot of good running back talent in this draft.

Overall love it.  Not crazy about an undersized LSU DE, but w/e.  That late in the draft you can take chances.  For now I'm firmly on the Cooper bandwagon.
