Cam will walk, IMO, but not because we won't try to keep him. He will want out. And if you think he's the garbage you describe, you just wait. When we get a middling QB as his replacement, you'll be crying for him. As will I.

Thats the thing, Cam is so bad I would take a middling QB right now. Cam is no better than the Josh Mccowns, Chad Hennes and Geno Smiths, thats the category I put him in

Cam is already overpaid by 21 million, one winning season, one playoff loss and mediocre play, he is MAYBE worth vet minimum and even then im not so sure hes even worth the roster spot. Why cant you guys see he is clearly a sub par QB on pretty much every level, what a complete and utter disaster if we pay Cam a hundred million, you think D Will and Stew contracts set this franchise back?! Lol just wait if Cam gets a hundred mill deal. Disaster.. complete disaster. Let Csm walk, draft a QB in the 2nd round and have him sit behind DA for a season or two. Do it the old fashion way, let Cam go be a backup for some other team. Im done with Cam, he is hopeless. He is a lame duck and you are blind if you dont see it. Cam wants a hundred million and no way Gman pays him anything remotely close to that, as a result Cam will walk.

Do you ever do anything but spew dumb poo out of your mouth on here?

From what I can  read of this (not an insider and never will be) I think it fairly describes the condition.  Of course, we can find minor errors and talk about those,  but the big picture is this:  What is Gettlemen's plan?  Does he think Cam is consistent enough to give him the franchise for 5 years, along with $100m? Don't forget, Cam said he wants to paid like an elite QB.  When I hear elite, I think Rogers, Brees, Manning, and Brady.  That is 1/8th of the starting QBs in the league.  Is Cam there?  No.

You have to ask (unless you are blindly hugging Cam's nuts and refuse to look at this as a business decision, which is exactly what it is) "What could we do with the $20m per season we would save if we tagged and traded Cam?  The draft picks?  It is tempting.

Cam is not without risk and flaws.  This is not a "no brainer."

My position, if there are people who misinterpret this:  After 4 years, we have seen flashes and spurts.  When the defense is good, we win late because they kept us in it.  When the defense was poor, we lost.  Since we did not put tools around Cam, we have no idea how good he can be.  However, if I am writing the checks, I surround him with protection and bring in one more threat at WR.  I think he will rise to the level of support he gets.  I do not think Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rogers would be elite here.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
