So what does Gettleman do with Cam?

Cam has exceeded the play of MOST QBs WHO WERE DRAFTED #1 (most were busts), and shattered those of most of his critics (but they are still trying), but unfortunately for him, he is, historically, playing at the same time as Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson, to whom he is judged against. He won't get greatest of all time money, which he won't expect, and he clearly wants to win a Super Bowl more than anything and realizes he can't do it alone. He also knows that Luke needs to get paid, too. He'll be reasonable, because like he said when he got his rookie deal, "It's still more money than I've ever had."

Cam's agent, on the other hand...

But 90% of Huddlers believe Cam is better than both Luck and Wilson, although there is absolutely no statistical, factual or other QB measurable that would be reason to give anyone that idea.

Only idiots give a flying fug who is "better".

We've got our guy, and they've got theirs, people can either accept that or jump on another bandwagon.

Team before Cam: 2-14. Worst in the league. I'd rather not repeat that.

I'd rather have the team with Cam. Also, I hope you're not implying I joined because of Cam, because Cam was at Blinn Junior College when i joined the Huddle.

That was more of a lame duck coach.

Gettleman needs to lock up Luke first then worry about Cam later.

I didn't qualify that 90%, I simply pointed out what 90% of them believe. One need only read nearly every thread regarding NFL QBs on this board.

But see that is the thing. If your Cam and the Panthers say to you that requesting a mega deal will hurt us putting talent around you...

Your response has to be: "Well you had 4 years to not put subpar talent around me while I was on my rookie contract. I am not giving you 5 more years so you can keep putting Bersin and Bell on the field. Give me my money."

At the end of the day, players, coaches, GMs, and franchises need to look out for number 1. And if I am Cam Newton, you already got a discount for 4 years, during that time you should have been surrounding me with talent. So now I have to take ANOTHER discount for you to POSSIBLY not get me a rookie WR as my clear No. 1 threat?

I mean I think he will get paid and I don't have a problem with that, I'm just hoping he isn't expecting something outrageous like 6 years/130M with 50M guaranteed or something that would really make building a team truly impossible.

Hopefully he'll be alright with something in the range of 17-19M/year.  I still consider that "team friendly" compared to what he could potentially earn.

Those looking for a Kaepernick type contract need to go a look at Kaep's contract. He is in the worst possible situation in the next couple of seasons, with almost no guaranteed money in his contract beyond next year. With Harbaugh gone, Kaep is going to be walking a tightrope from 2016, not an ideal situation for your franchise QB.

The problem with Shula is he doesn't scheme the offense to Cam's strengths. Chudzinski had him looking like a stud his rookie season because he did those things. And he doesn't have faith in Cam. I know the dude is inaccurate and makes bad decisions, but you have to use his strengths as opposed to trying to run an offense that is not best suited for him

It is his fault, look at Wilson, he doesnt have the talent we do and still get it done. Thats whats make great and good what they are, they work with what they have and elevate them. We have some pieces but Cam is just not in that class and I dont see him getting there. His decision making and mechanics are poor.

What pieces do we have besides Olsen and a developing rookie are you serious
