Will Chip Kelly trade up?

Tampa cannot afford to trade pick the fact is drafting a Qb grants Lovie job security for three years at least being that Super Mario is the top prospect it will keep the owners happy and if he pans out Lovie stays long term if not he will buy three years as developmental years in the NFL a coach is usually tied to the Qb he labels as "his guy" once he has that guy the clock is ticking

Agreed. But just for the sake of argument, Philly would have to give up a lot of draft picks, so would it not benefit Tampa to take those picks being that they have a lot of holes to fill besides just the quarter back?

it would take a Washington type sell the house deal but if that happens I think they would be foolish not to take it ,but I do not see the philly front office doing that knowing all the holes they have,( including a no name defense) plus have we already forgotten foles ? You gotta remember that he only last year had such a great season I think they wait until he plays out his deal (I believe his rookie deal) until they truly look into another QB especially given Kelly likes Foles

Yeah, but Kelly also coached Mariota and knows what it takes to run that college type offense. Definitely crazy to think about.

that it is but as usual talent doesn't go where it is best used it goes to the scrub team (not complaining that's how we got cam but still) I like super Mario I'm annoyed I'll have to hate him his whole career as a buccinqueer I'm kinda bummed about that but division rivalry is no joke lol that said I hope he busts :P

Yeahhh haha. If he does go to Tampa, God help him when he sees Luke and the defense

I'd be more afraid of being decapitated by TD lol but Luke is turning into a hitter dude just does everything makes all those first round linebackers we picked worth it haha I guess eventually it had to pay off

I feel like we've always had pretty good linebackers. We just need to get some safety help and a receiver

true but not at the level of Luke nor on par with his marketablity (which I feel is important in today's NFL) beason was good even elite at times but health was a concern Dan Morgan same problem though man that dude hit like a train) James Anderson wasn't ever as good as he looked when next to beason and TD and before them I get a bit muddied in the history going back to our 3-4 days and our boy Sam mills was originally a saint so he didn't have a full career here

I hope not. Seeing Mariota attempt those speedy rushes up the middle on our defense would be hilarious. I'm not wishing the guy ill will or anything, he's an exciting player to watch. I just don't think he's going to be that good in the NFL unless he lands in a perfect situation.

Evidently Tampa was willing to trade up for a QB before they got to the top pick so I cannot imagine them trading out of it.  I expect Tennessee to at least attempt to get an RGIII type deal for the #2 pick although I doubt Philadelphia will be one of the teams in on that conversation.  Foles is not great but is decent and still young and like Arizona I doubt the Eagles collapse if he was in there

    • Watched the recent Mic'd up which had the Bucs game. This angle makes that fumble look so much worse, pretty sure it was inbetween Bryce's hands.   bbb.mp4
    • Here is what you did not mention (and I have not read the thread--but will--it is a needed) and that is the MAFF.  He is in a contract year (2026-5th year) and we will not know (in all likelihood) how the knee is healing by the time we have to decide on a mega deal.   If you consider the time it takes to fully heal is 12 months if all goes well, the injury is known to shorten careers.  Of course, a man of 330 lbs who needs agility to perform at a high level makes the injury a bit more serious than it was for Jimmy Graham, for example, who recovered in a remarkable 9 months.  Having said all that, I think he should be moved inside to guard.   While many NFL linemen can return to play after patellar tendon surgery, studies show a significant failure rate and reduced performance, with return-to-play (RTP) rates often cited around 50-56%, meaning roughly 44-50% don't make it back, and even those who do often see reduced careers and statistics, highlighting it as a devastating injury for linemen." I think you have to go after an elite OT, and I think it should be a first rounder because you don't sign elite LTs in free agency.  Ickey is already going to get paid $18m or so in 2026.    However, the money you save by not locking him down long term could go to a free agent edge or ILB.  It is very complicated if you start factoring in contracts, risks, cap, and the odds of recovery.
    • Yes, we played the 2nd most cover 3 in the NFL behind the Raiders.   The flats and seams are the areas you want to attack it so its soft spots are areas qbs can hit quickly which can definitely hurt the pass rush.
