Deflate-Gate: Patriots Being Investigated For Deflated Footballs

Recommended Posts

At this point from what I've seen, the most likely scenario is that the balls were improperly tested in the pre-game approval.

Adam Schefter has reported that the league is having trouble finding any evidence of tampering, despite over 50 cameras in the area.

Combined with a former Bears ball boy coming out and saying that most often the pregame inspection consisted of the refs holding the footballs and looking at the laces, without actually measuring anything, and that in all his time as a ball boy the refs didn't reject a single ball.

I think what is gonna end up being the case is that the Patriots deflated the balls before the pre-game, in the same manner that the Packers overinflate theirs, and the refs failed to properly test them before approving them for use.

Mark Brunell was on TV earlier and he believes Brady is lying and he is disappointed in him. He said QB's always know the condition of the balls going into games and that any tinkering with balls such as breaking them in by scuffing the ball with a brush or whatever is controlled by the QB. He would have been the one that requested that the ball was deflated. It would have been his decision.

Of course it was his decision, he's the person who it benefits. The thing we don't know though is when the deflating happened, as there's so far no actual evidence it happened on the sideline. If it happened before the initial inspection it's perfectly legal. If it happened after that, why can they not find any evidence or footage of someone deflating the balls on the sideline?

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
