on paper, our new RB Jordan Todman is an upgrade over Fozzy

Todman is younger and more productive. If Todman is indeed the better player, do we cut Fozzy? Or do we cut Reaves? Or do we keep all three in addition to both Stewart and the RB we likely draft to replace DeAngelo as our #2?

kick return average over last two seasons combined:

26.31 avg - Jordan Todman (64 kick returns for 1,684 yds)

25.33 avg - Percy Harvin (33 kick returns for 836 yds)

NFL career rushing yards per carry:

3.7 ypc - Fozzy Whittaker (60 carries for 224 yds)

2.5 ypc - Darrin Reaves (31 carries for 78 yds)

2014 rushing yards per carry:

2.5 ypc - Darrin Reaves (31 carries for 78 yds)

NBC:

“Jordan is a veteran running back who has had some success in this league,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “We think he has some return skills and we are always looking to be good in that area. At running back, he brings versatility. He is stout and physical enough to run the ball up inside, but he’s got the quickness and speed to get outside to the corner.”

The Jaguars didn’t tender him an offer this offseason, setting him free into the market. As a result, he won’t cost the Panthers anything in terms of next year’s comp pick formula, making it a risk-free add.

I doubt this guy would get Fozzy cut. Fozzy is on a 2 year deal. Why sign Fozzy for 2 years and replace him a few weeks later?

I do think we are loading the stables because one or more of these running backs will go down. Todman looks like a legit return man and special teams player. It feels like we are filling out or roster with more veterans this year. Feels like there won't be as much room for undrafted long shots.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
