The Cubs say HELLO !!!

been a great winter meetings.....

Man, good offseason.  I was a little sad to see Castro go, he's been the only bright spot for a while, and he started tearing it up at the end of last year and handled the move to second like a pro.  Zobrist will bring vet experience though.  But the signing of Heyward is huge.  We need some more "average" hitters and his speed and defense will be nice.  We should re-sign Fowler to stay in center, Heyward right, and trade Soler for some pitching.   Lackey good pick up too.

It's not a bad deal for Heyward, at all guys.  He's super young still, 26.  He's fast and plays Gold Glove defense.  Did you watch us in the playoffs?  We're terrible on defense and terrible at hitting for average.   Heyward brings both and is also young, so he is a vet, but young enough to grow with our young team.   Madden is bringing in guys to add variety to our team.  Heyward and Zobrist bring some vet qualities and more hitting for average.   Money doesn't really matter in the MLB to a point, and we have so much young talent to offset his cost.

Getting Heyward, Zobrist and Lackey has been great.  If we can get a little more bullpen and maybe another starter it would be amazing, but even without that, we're set.   Heyward/Zobrist/Bryant/Rizzo/Schauber is a sick starting 5.  Good luck MLB.

It's a lot of money for a player who hits for a career .270. The Zobrist signing was a good one, and I enjoyed the Lackey signing because it screwed over the Cardinals and that's always funny.

People have to realize that Heyward's MLB journey hasn't been like everyone else.  The hype was so big that they brought him up way too early and then left him there.  He should have spent some time in the minors.  He's only 26  but has been around.  Last season was the beginning of what he can do.   He'll end up hitting for more power too, and they won't be able to pitch around him.   The defense, can't be understated as well.

This team is killing it right now.   The loss of Kyle sucks but I really think Soler can be a better player long-term anyway (defense is way better).    We're may more disciplined this year, and the additions of Heyward and Zobrist have been money so far.  Getting Fowler back as well.    The amount of walks we're getting when hitting is fantastic.  Every one is hitting, even David Ross.   Pitching has been mostly solid minus one terribad game by Lackey last week (still got the W).

excitement in Wrigleyville today with the acquisition of Chapman........

Theo is da man !!

I'm mixed.  Not getting the extension hurts, we gave up some pieces.   But if it pans out, who will question it?  Bullpen has been the downfall for most of the season and now our starters are feeling it because of having to go too long in games.   Montgomery and Chapman will help and even old Nathan.    It's time to make a run and stop blowing late game leads.

    • It is interesting how the games changed over the past 10-15 years. I mainly started watching football in like 2010 or so. I feel like every week there were QBs throwing for 400+, 300 yards was a pedestrian day it felt like. Now even the best qbs dont throw for 300 super often it feels.
    • I dont necessarily disagree just really curious as to why that is?  He either must be a dunce, a bad teammate or must be horrendous in practice because I thought he showed promise at least in his 2nd year
    • Its AI but here goes nothing:   Trevor Lawrence's catchable ball statistics vary by situation, with his highest rate being 74.1%74.1 % 74.1% in a clean pocket and his lowest on deep balls at 41.2%41.2 % 41.2% .
