Thanks for giving us Ruiz and Folty for Evan fuging Gattis :)

The Astros have done some of this winning without their big bats at all until yesterday with the Caveman had 4 RBIs

Gattis, Springer and Carter have not existed thus far this year.  Get them all going and......

Of course the Astros have a good, young team with a small. payroll.

They've been the doormat of the MLB for a decade. They've collected prized high pick prospects for years and now they're all at the major league level on their rookie contracts. They're young and exciting and will win some games and show tons of potential.

Then in 2-4 more years they'll reject small arbitration deals from Houston and cash in as members of the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, etc.

Oh I know.  Small window for Houston until the vultures come in and pick em clean again.

They seem like a farm team for the rest of the league

Lance McCullers made his first start this week, Correa coming soon.

Even though they have the best record in the AL and only a half game behind the Cards for best record overall, I am not trusting of their closer.

Oh well, afternoon televised game today, so will tape it.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
