I'm pretty sure teeray is a Bayley stalker lol.

Probably my 3 favorite wrestlers in the entire WWE company right now are Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Dean Ambrose (who has been essentially reduced to Roman Reigns' male valet).

I am a big fan of all the 4 horsewomen of NXT but Bayley is probably the only believable truly pure babyface in the company and Sasha Banks is just a fugging star in the making.

But I think any reasonable person would agree that the Bayley v Sasha feud is the best thing on WWE programming right now.

There are other guys and gals I like but either their storyline is stupid or I am having trouble giving a poo.

I love Kevin Owens but having a hard time caring about him fighting Ryback.

Seth Rollins is amazing and the best in ring wrestler since Shawn Michaels, but he has been booked like WWE world chumpion and is now in a feud with Kane.  KANE!

And they are pushing a Big Show v Brock Lesnar match which I am about as excited for as I am for my next prostate exam.

Ziggy and Rusev have just an incredibly stupid storyline where I am pretty sure Ziggy is the scumbag asshole in the story but WWE keeps believing we should cheer for him.

New Day v Dudleyville is pretty awesome, and Stardust v Neville has been entertaining.

Point being, honestly right now, in my opinion, there isnt really anything to talk about or be excited about except Bayley and Sasha Banks.

And we all know who the stalker is

DDP was the man lol.

Yeah the WWE doesn't know how to book correctly.  Kevin Owens needs to be fighting guys like Cesaro, Bray, Rollins, Ambrose, or even Reigns (whom I hate) etc.   Same with them fighting those guys.   Ryback is a mid carder at best, not sure what is going on there.  Kane lost relevance years ago definitely.

I think Cesaro is the best wrestler right now and even though his mic skills aren't the best, the guy is just funny and has charisma somehow.   They have talent if they'd just use it right.

Couldn't agree more.

Cesaro has some awesome moves and in ring talent, but to me he is lacking on the mic, and another thing I think he is lacking is his psychology in a match.  I don't think he sells as well as a guy like Rollins for instance.  But the dude is rediculous with his move sets and strength.

He is stuck right now where Ambrose was about 5 months ago.  Over with the crowd, but being used as the upper midcard babyface to lose to heels that are on the uppercard of next main PPV or special to build them up.

In no rational wrestling world should Cesaro lose clean to the Big Show, but that is exactly what happened to build up the Big Show v Brock Lesnar match that no one wants to see.

The weirdest thing was when Heyman was going to manage Cesaro and stopped in like 2 weeks, lol.

Funny coincidence, Teeray. I skimmed through WM17 earlier this week on the network. Pretty good show, but of course I stopped for the Austin/Rock encounter. I hadn't seen that promo video probably since it first aired and I got goosebumps. I was psyched for the match like it was about to happen live. Few things could get me to enjoy a Limp Bizkit song.

So, here's where I'll be on Sunday:

I don't watch TNA regularly, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity knowing Kurt Angle and both Hardys will be on the card. Plus Billy Corgan, of the TNA creative (oh and my musical Messiah), will be in attendance. Pretty stoked...I'll be on the floor and three rows from the ring.

Wow I've never seen this thread, also don't think I've ever opened this forum thingy though.

I loved wrestling as a kid (WWF) wasn't a huge WCW fan but would watch occasionally (I liked Raven haha). I've always loved the athleticism aspect of wrestling and really appreciate what some of these guys can do in the ring. As a kid I enjoyed a good storyline but now I strictly watch for the in-ring stuff as the storylines these days are pretty brutal. I always thought about doing the wrestling thing as a kid but my time was consumed with sports and then once I finished high school I focused on education/jobs.

As for watching these days, I'll go out of my way to watch Seth Rollins wrestle. I don't think there's a better wrestler than him right now, he literally can do it all (Thank god they never gave Reigns the title... dude has 3 moves and one's a punch).

Rollins vs Cena at Summerslam was an awesome match ruined by a terrible ending. The triple threat match at the Rumble was another one of my favorite Rollins matches. They need to start letting this guy win cleanly.

Stardust v Neville

I had just read the OP before posting, glad we agree on Rollins and totally agree on the way they're using him. I also feel like they really screwed up on Bray Wyatt, he has serious potential because he does well on the mic and has a solid character but having lose to Taker at WM was dumb. I'm hoping he beats RR at HIAC.

If Cody Rhodes had more of a look to him he could've been a main carder for a long time imo. Very solid wrestler.

Yeah, totally agree.

Glad you found the thread, we need more posters instead of me just posting about how awesome Bayley and Sasha are every other post lol.

Rollins is awesome.  They used to say that Shawn Michaels could have a match with a broomstick and make it a classic.  I feel the same way about Rollins.  He can carry anyone and make it a great match.

WWE has never had more talented wrestlers IMO but can't make it work.  Storytelling is crap right now.

Do you watch NXT?

Yep agree on the talent part, they desperately need to hire some new writers or something. I'm looking to get sucked back in but I just can't. They have a ton of guys that could be used as headliners yet we're stuck with Rollins fighting guys like Sting and Kane? C'mon...

I did watch a little bit of NXT while I had the free preview of WWE Network. That stuff was exciting/entertaining to watch, I'll probably get the network in the near future and will for sure start watching NXT.

Just started skimming through the thread and I basically stopped and picked back up again around the same times as you. I missed the whole CM Punk era although I would keep tabs on Randy Orton, liked him from the beginning. I saw Wrestlemania 13 get mentioned, that was one of the best. I have a VHS copy in my basement somewhere. Being a Canadian kid I was obviously a Bret Hart fan.

Its too bad I was so young when Michaels wrestled. I was a Hart fan so I never appreciated Michaels for the wrestler he was and just hated him because of his character (The Montreal Screwjob was the nail in HBK's coffin for me). Now that I'm not emotional invested anymore I can go back and watch some of these matches and have a better appreciation for him. It's funny you used the HBK/Rollins comparison because just the other day I used it as well. If you have time check out some of Rollins' (Tyler Black) matches from his Ring of Honor days.

    • The referee assigned to this game is Shawn Smith. This is a critical data point for betting purposes because his crew has one of the most distinct, long-term statistical biases in the NFL. "Road Team" Bias: Historically, Shawn Smith is known as the "Road Team Referee." In a league where home teams usually win ~55% of the time, home teams in Smith's games have historically won at a rate far below league average (often hovering around 40-42%). Against The Spread (ATS): The trend is even starker here. Home teams have covered the spread at a rate of roughly 37-40% in his career. The Mechanism: Analysis shows his crew tends to call a higher rate of False Start and Unnecessary Roughness penalties on the Home Team. This negates the traditional home-field advantage (crowd noise causing false starts for the visitors). Impact on This Game: This specific assignment heavily favors the Buccaneers (Road Team). If you believe the referee influences the game, Smith's presence suggests the Panthers will struggle to get "home cooking" calls and may face untimely procedural flags that stall drives. The Panthers have only had Shawn Smith officiate four home games since he became a head referee in 2018, and they are all losses. Date Opponent Result Score Nov 24, 2024 vs. Kansas City Chiefs Loss 27–30 Oct 9, 2022 vs. San Francisco 49ers Loss 15–37 Dec 12, 2021 vs. Atlanta Falcons Loss 21–29 Nov 25, 2018 vs. Seattle Seahawks Loss 27–30   Considering the how rare it is for Shawn Smith to officiate a Panthers game at all, this seems like an odd time to assign him to a Panthers game, unless the NFL wants to kill the Panthers season once and for all.  The Panthers' offensive line situation creates a "perfect storm" for referee Shawn Smith's specific tendency to call False Starts on the home team. The "Carousel" Factor (Communication Vulnerability) The most damning stat for the Panthers' offensive line in 2025 is their lack of continuity. The Stat: By Week 13, the Panthers had already fielded their 10th different offensive line combination. The Impact: False starts are often "communication penalties"—they happen when a guard doesn't hear the center's snap count or a tackle anticipates the wrong cadence. A unit that hasn't played together struggles with non-verbal communication. The Shawn Smith Multiplier: Shawn Smith’s crew calls False Starts at a high rate on home teams. He will likely look for flinches on the exterior of the line. A disjointed line that is constantly rotating players (due to the injuries of starters like Cade Mays and the illness issues with Robert Hunt earlier this season) is "fresh meat" for this specific referee bias. The Specific Culprits (2025 Penalties) Ikem Ekwonu (LT): Leads the team with 4 False Start penalties this season. He is the most frequent violator on the line. Taylor Moton (RT): Has been flagged for 3 False Starts. The Trap: Smith’s crew often focuses on the tackles (the players furthest from the ball) jumping early to get an edge on speed rushers. Since Ekwonu struggles with this discipline naturally, having a referee who hunts for it is a massive disadvantage. The "Managed Outcome" Synthesis The "Bucs Cover" Script: If the desired outcome is a Buccaneers win to solidify their playoff standing, the officials simply have to apply the letter of the law. Calling strict False Starts on a confused, banged-up Panthers O-line will consistently put them in "3rd and Long" situations, killing their drives and allowing the Bucs (-3.5) to cover easily. The "Close Game" Script: If the desired outcome is "Week 18 Drama" (keeping the division tied), look for the officials to ignore the Panthers' twitchy tackles. If Ekwonu jumps a split-second early and no flag is thrown, it effectively neutralizes the Bucs' pass rush, allowing the Panthers to keep the score close. Summary of the Edge Vulnerability: Extreme. The Panthers are playing backup interior linemen (like Jake Curhan or practice squad call-ups) next to jumpy tackles. Betting Implication: This strongly reinforces the Bucs -3 or -3.5 play. The combination of a "Road Team Referee" and a "Home Team O-Line in chaos" suggests the Panthers will beat themselves with procedural penalties. Based on the collision of the hard data (Referee bias + Offensive Line injuries) and the soft narratives ("Managed Outcomes"), here is the definitive recommendation. If you have to place a single Moneyline bet to win this game straight up: The Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-165) While the "Entertainment Script" hints at a Panthers upset to keep the division messy, the structural disadvantage the Panthers face in this specific matchup is too massive to ignore. Here is why the Buccaneers are the stong moneyline play: 1. The "Shawn Smith" Road-Field Advantage This is the decisive factor. In the NFL, Home Field Advantage usually accounts for about 1.5 to 2 points of value. The Reality: Referee Shawn Smith negates that advantage entirely. His crew calls penalties in a way that historically suppresses home crowd momentum (False Starts, holding). The Result: You are essentially getting the Buccaneers on a neutral field (or even a "pseudo-home" field) against a team with a worse roster. 2. The "Drive-Killer" Synergy To win as an underdog, the Panthers need to play a clean, mistake-free game to keep drives alive. The combination of Panthers' 10th O-Line combo + Jump-prone Tackles (Ekwonu) + A Referee who hunts False Starts is a recipe for disaster. The Scenario: Expect the Panthers to face multiple "1st and 15" or "3rd and 12" situations due to procedural flags. These drive-killers will force them to punt or settle for field goals, while the Bucs' offense (led by Mayfield) stays on schedule. 3. The "TV Product" Counter-Argument You asked about the "Managed Outcome." While a Panthers win creates "chaos," the NFL also values Star Power in the playoffs. Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers are a proven national TV draw with recent playoff history. If the league has to choose between "Chaos" (Panthers) and "Ratings/Legitimacy" (Bucs), the "Script" likely leans toward ensuring the Buccaneers—the more marketable team—secure the division lead. They won't "fix" the game against the Panthers, but they won't intervene to save them from their own penalties. Final Verdict Betting on the Panthers requires you to hope for a miracle 4th-quarter collapse. Betting on the Buccaneers requires you to trust that a superior roster—aided by a favorable officiating crew—will control the game for the first 45 minutes. Take the Buccaneers Moneyline. The "Safe" money is on the Ref. The Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Win and Cover Projected Score: Buccaneers 27, Panthers 17 The Bet: Buccaneers -3 (or Moneyline -165) Confidence Level: High on the Winner; Moderate on the Spread (due to potential "garbage time" variance).
    • He isn't a good HC. I think he has proved that conclusively.
    • The missed tackle percentage is on that screen cap.
