Western Conference Finals Thread

It wouldn't matter. Even with a struggling Klay, Curry and Green handled a surging Harden and bench. Imagine had Thompson actually been on the money tonight too. The Warriors would have scored 130.

imaging if Hou had Bev d'ing up Curry and had Moti and DH12 in the front court instead of fuging josh smith and clint Capela

And imagine if Andre Iguadola played like an old first team defense player. Imagine if David Lee played like an all-star. Imagine if Andrew Bogut could play more than 15 weak ass garbage minutes a game.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas.

he is playing like an old first team defense player. He was a first team defense player IN THE PAST (old). He no longer is a first team defense player, so therefore is is playing like an old first team defense player

The Cavs needed LBJ and LBJ needed the rest of the guys. I love LBJ. I just wish that with him being the best player in the league, he wouldn't need to have so many guys surround him.

He would never had win in Miami without Wade and Bosh. Now, he's with Kyrie and Love and still needed more help. The Cavs would probably be out of the playoffs already if it weren't for Iman and JR.

No superstar has ever won without talent around them. Even Jordan. The bulls had over 50 wins and were 1 game away from the ECF the year jordan took off when he was playing baseball.. LeBrons cavs before he left had about the same team minus him that 1st year in miami, and went from over 60 wins to 19. So yes, Jordan did have talent, and he had more than LeBron had surrounding him his 1st go around in cleveland for sure, which is why I hate how people say he should've stayed and played on that poo team he had.

Just like "Trade 5 and 13 to move up to 3" in 2005, I've never seen anything that says a deal like this was ever on the table.

I'm 90% sure it was an option.  It was clear by that summer OKC was ready to move on from Harden and they weren't gonna be able to agree to a deal.  LOOK AT WHAT THEY TRADED HIM FOR (NOTHING)!!!!!  I really think they would have taken the second pick and ran with it, I remember reports said they really wanted Beal

We've been beaten down by enough bad luck as it is, the last thing our psyche needs is regret from trade proposals that never existed.

It's stuff like this that makes the nba look like a joke. Harden flops a half dozen times a game easy but they fine Curry for a play where there wasn't even a foul called. Just what the hell is the criteria for a fine when I've seen far worse flops in every single game of the playoffs.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
