More Russell Wilson contract "news"-Summary:It's great to be a Panther fan

The hawks never planned for this , they didn't think Wilson was going to be anything more than a game manager , if they were lucky. They didn't plan to have to pay him like a franchise QB. This whole situation is like inherenting a house you can't afford the tax payments on. Either sell off your assets to pay for it or sell the house .

I have no hate.for Wilson.

He is an over rated qb, on a great.team.

this is also his only opportunity to get the money that he and his agent are trying to get.  Every single guy here would do the same thing, whether they admit it or not. He's not being greedy,  the NFL is set up like this.

Don't  hate the player, hate the game.

The butt-hurt and idiotic comments this forum regularly displays as it relates to Wilson is astonishing. Yet the same morons yapping about how much Wilson wants will think it's reasonable when Luck asks for the moon...for accomplishing less...

The same morons who thought it was a good idea for the Bears to give Cutler that hilariously bad contract last year, or neglected to take the same stance when Drew Brees actually HELD OUT for not a penny less than twenty-two million.

But you know, the Huddle...

Have you actually read the Huddle?

The pretty much universal take on Drew Brees when he got hid big contract was that he was being a selfish pick and his cap hits would wind up breaking the team (which they did).

And Jay Cutler? Seriously? The entire board laughed hysterically at the Bears when they extended Cutler. He's a punch line here.

really? I don't rrmeber too much support for those deals, and I'm pretty sure the tea ruin (reaction lol auto correct) will be the same to the Luck deal.

anybody getting paid in the NFL, I don't have a problem with, but if those contracts hurt the teams in the process that fair game to laugh at.

I love Cam too, and I bet Luke has a Panther friendly deal also.

I say trade him to the Bills so Buffalo can win that division.

If the sources and common sense are to be believed with his agent, trading him for Marcell Darius and a couple picks is better than the (likely?) scenario given in the article.  Again, they're screwed either way.

I can't fault the guy for trying to get the max money that he can. Poo, I want a raise on my job too.

But what I can't really understand is why people are hating him on this board. Forget that he's a NCSU dude, but don't we want him to get paid as much as possible? Maybe they will trade Sherman in order to afford his contract.

By the way, the way KB owns Sherman they can keep him.

I would be absolutely fine getting the contract that Cam got if I was Russell Wilson.

    • Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game. If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams. 😄
    • That was real fear in his eyes when the rope was being taken. My younger days, I had my best friend that happened to be black come over all the time. I had the nicest bulldog on the planet, my friend Damon was scared to death of him. His grandmother and daddy taught him to fear all dawgs and seen the same fear in his face and voice.    I think alllll young kids should take swimming lessons and not fear the water. Very thankful my parents did this, I no longer get in the ocean since its 50% sewage. But I enjoyed all the lakes, pools, and oceans I swam in.
    • My personal opinion is the non-guaranteed contract is the main reason for NFL success. MLB and NBA players are on cruise control after their big contracts and it shows in the product.  NFL is each year you are fighting for your job. Same for the majority of the public.... You get lazy or try to coast after the 100+ million contract, your ass will be cut within 1-2 years. Then the next one will not even touch 100 million+. Besides a few NBA players like Kobe was coming for blood with a 300 million contract or 1 doll hair deal. Brandy Beal just reached a buyout where he was getting 110 million, many other cases..... I dare say his name for the hornets guy..... MLB sooo many times as well.    If the NFL starts fully guaranteeing all contracts, Id have a new hobby to fill the hours of entertainment NFL gave me.
