Panther's draft picks

Lt Pinkerton

Recommended Posts

If you also count guys that came onto the team from a undrafted rookie status, even if we signed them away from another team, that number goes even higher. The number of "outsiders" that came to the team as high profile FA is very, very low. The only ones I can think of is Kemo, Lewis, Brayton, C. Harris, Lenord, Diggs, Johnson, Delhomme, McCown, Vincient, Baker and Janson. Kasay would technically be a FA brought in but after 15 years I don't think you can consider him an "outsider". Even if you did that would only be 13 players leaving 40 of the 53 draft picks or undrafted rookies or waiver claims ect.

And when you look at that list of "outsiders", most of them where outcasts before coming to the Panthers.

Its good..but the panthers FO..is very stubborn about geting rid of draft picks..even when they suck..
And why wouldn't they be? If you have a guy on the bubble that you drafted and the alternative is a guy on the bubble that came here as a free agent, wouldn't you want the draft pick? They're usually cheaper and have been in the system longer.

Here's a list of our "homegrown" talent. Which ones suck and should be cut?

> 3 years on the squad:

Muhsin Muhammad, Brad Hoover, Steve Smith, Julius Peppers, Dante Wesley, Jordan Gross, Chris Gamble, Travelle Wharton, Thomas Davis, James Anderson, Jeff King, Richard Marshall, DeAngelo Williams

3rd year players:

Jon Beason, Dwayne Jarrett, Charles Johnson, Ryan Kalil, Matt Moore, Dante Rosario, Quinton Teal, C.J. Wilson

2nd year players:

Gary Barnidge, Mackenzy Bernadeau, Dan Connor, Charles Godfrey, Jeff Otah, Jonathan Stewart, Hilee Taylor, Nick Hayden, Geoff Schwartz

Rookies:

Everette Brown, Tony Fiammetta, Mike Goodson, Sherrod Martin, Captain Munnerlyn, Duke Robinson, Garry Williams

So with those names, who do you think the Panthers should give up on in favor of a free agent? And kindly name a free agent they had a shot at--we all know Haynesworth is better than Hayden but this isn't fantasy-land.

So who?

Nice generalizations. That's all you have though, no substance, no facts, just an idea that we can just snap our fingers and get more talent on the roster.

Are you aware that you're dropping three drafted players entering their third year, two entering their second, and a rookie? That makes no sense. I guess you would have replaced Kalil because he didn't start his first year, huh? How about Hoover, I doubt he would have made your cut.

And are you planning on replacing all these guys with starting-caliber players? Aside from the lack of room under our cap, why would a potential starter come here if they weren't going to get any playing time anyway? And if you can't get a potential starter, how are the ones you're going to get an improvement on what we have?

By the way, Wesley was a starter in Miami. And you can get a free agent starter from Cincinnati in Landon Johnson who really doesn't look like an improvement on James Anderson.

So what you're saying makes no sense to me at all. It's like telling the team to go win a Super Bowl--if it was that easy everyone would do it.

It probably feels good to just criticize the front office, as if you could do better. But I don't think you thought it through very much.

    • If we get to 4-3 do we make a sneaky trade?
    • Corbett should move back to guard if anything while being the backup for BC and Lewis. Cade needs to stay at center. That much has been obvious since last year.  Coker needs to be fast tracked to the lineup, preferably starting over XL.  The problem comes with Chubba, JT and Turk... 3 starters that the backups have arguably outperformed. I like JT's ball skills but I'm quickly becoming an Evans fan. Hopefully JT coming back will only affect James Mitchell. Idunno but Rico should be untouchable at the moment...he's on OPTY/MVP pace and Turk should NEVER be utilized as a NT again.
    • Looking at the TE situation, does Sanders get on the field if he can't block to the level of TT and ME?  I am 100% on board with Sanders getting Wally Pipped on this one.  We have plenty of WR's, I don't see what huge advantage he gives us over TT or ME, or even James Mitchel at this point.  Canales said when he was hired that the TE was a huge part of his offense.  The blocking displayed by the TE room Sunday was exactly what he meant. I also think the WR rotation ends up being....  TMAC, Coaker, Brycen, XL, Horn, Renfrow.  XL needs to learn to run routes, block his ass off, and be dependable if he wants to get opportunities going forward.  He's about to lose the Trust of BY.  Looking at the top 3 Wr's, I easily see JHJr passing him on the depth chart.  My money is on Renfrow being inactive most games going forward.
