Is Cam the worst QB on the roster?

Starting quarterbacks always play less in preseason.  Thus, a smaller sample.

Any math nerd worth his salt could tell you small samples all too often make positives look better and negatives look worse than they really are.

For a guy like Cam who's not always at his best outside of full game situations anyway... Well, if you know what 'extrapolate' means, just do that.

You can't judge Cam in the preseason off of stats... the play calling is very vanilla right now and IS NOT using him as a dual threat, so defenses aren't loading up in the box to stop him from running... most defense are just letting their front-7 do the job of stopping the run... with there being no threat of the zone-read, Cam is just another pocket QB in the preseason

With that said, you can judge Cam on his accuracy and footwork though... see whether he is still throwing high and off his back foot...

What year was that? What year is it now? I was referring to the QB performances of the first 2 preseason games, not a playoff game from 4 years ago.

Webb is here for his special teams contributions, and because he can help out at WR.

Anyone who actually believes he could be a viable option behind center might literally be a vegetable.

We all love Cam on this board...I personally have a huge non-sexual crush on the man. But we can at least admit that he's not having the best preseason on the field. And if that offends you, un-bunch panties please. :)

Brah, Cam is five for five on underwhelming preseasons. Nothing needs to change, when the lights come on and the season starts Cam is ready to ball.

Here's my crazy theory on why Cam is always slow to start in games, but gets into gear by his third series...

It's the shoes.

Cam always comes out and does his warm ups in his fancy Underarmor cleats. Let's face it, they make a big deal about showing them off before the game, and it is good advertising. League rules require him to change the cleats before the game starts, so it's go back to the locker room, slap on the Nikes, get taped up and get out there.

So he has gotten warmed up and acclimated to the Underarmor cleats, then goes back in and switches to a different brand with different characteristics. Athletes are really particular about their shoes, the fit, the breaking them in... and he goes out and prepares with one, then plays in the others. It probably takes him three series on the field to get the feel of them and get situated again.

Just to show off some special shoes and pick up some advertising dollars. Could this showboating actually be hurting the team a bit? Love the guy and can't wait to see him play, but if this is the problem, he needs to get his priorities straight.

That was impressive.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
