Hello everyone! I have posted my game preview and statisticial analysis for this weekend's game. be warned that it is a blog and it is LONG. I go over every position on both sides of the ball for both teams, plus some extras at the end. i appreciate all readers and feedback. reserve 15-30 minutes to read through the article. Thanks everyone, Keep Pounding, and Go Panthers!!!!

EDIT: the images format better if you view the entry on my blog homescreen. just click the link below and under the first entry labeled "Panthers @ Jaguars Preview", click "show more" :)

Good read, I liked the plug for hour pops but the lack of apostrophes in many of the contractions irked me. I can't help it.

As for the analysis I think it's solid but I didn't get the feeling that it was really objective, probably because you had a lot more insight about the Panthers. Familiarity played a big part in that but I didn't think it was really biased either. All things being equal it was a fair comparison/contrast and I agree with most of what you said.

I look forward to reading each week...perhaps a slightly condensed version.

Great job and thanks for the time and effort you put into it.

i'll try and see if i can fix the apostrophe issue. honestly that's just laziness on my part, and i don't want it taking away from an otherwise good analysis.

i'm hoping i can get Dad to provide a quick weather report every week.

yes it wasn't really objective. i tried to explain that. but you're right it had alot to do with familiarity.

if i may ask, how can i condense it more? there was just so much information to present. i don't really know how to condense it.

thanks for your feedback Jack :)

Playing around further on the sporting charts site - a site I've only become familiar with this season, and still hadn't explored in too much detail - I discovered you can customize team matchups.   I'd thought you could only show matchups for a team you'd played in a given season, but you can show matchups against any team in the league.  So cool.

So, here is the Carolina vs. Jax matchup using 2014 stats.

http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/teams/matchup/364-carolina-panthers-vs-365-jacksonville-jaguars/

But, of course, as UpstatePanther notes in his analysis, those stats are somewhat misleading given our "tale of two seasons" last year, with our final games being so much stronger than our early games.

Anyway, this was a lot of fun to discover, and I really like the format and information in a lot of their charts and graphics - especially the "sliding scale"  worst / best chart which shows how the teams' stats compare to each other, but also how they compare to the best and worst in the league.  Really clear & nice.

Nice analysis the only thing I can suggest is changing the color of your signature. Black and Blue do not work like that. Hurts my eyes and I know it has to hurt others.

    • If the losses were him not stepping up in key situations then it'd be a disappointment.
    • I'm well versed in the minutiea of the Canes radio broadcast system... lol I've been back in WNC for about 15 years now. And, until very recently, we would only get Predators games on the RSNs out here. So, radio was the only option for me to keep up with the team. These were the dark years, too. Maybe, once a year, you'd get to see us get smashed on national TV by some original 6 powerhouse. If you were really lucky, Jeff Skinner would bless you with one of his absolutely stunning pirouette passes to nowhere, before Wardo toppled over off his head, giving up a goal on his 70th shot faced that night for an inspiring 1-0 loss. But, that story sounds a whole lot cooler when Chuck Kaiton is telling it to you in real-time with the raspy drawl of a calving heifer! Before TuneIn or the Canes apps even existed, I used to have to find the one spot out in the back yard, where the hills and trees parted just right, that I could pickup 730(?)AM The Buzz all the way out in Catawba county. I'd sit in the shadow of the mighty Appalachians, staring out at the stars and getting high with stray cats, while being serenaded by the worst hockey you've never seen played in your life. That all, finally, started to change around the time TD bought the team. Part of that is due to the new NHL TV contracts and the constant reorganization of the RSNs themselves. Part, was me breaking up with that feral cat and moving to LKN to escape all the painful memories. The march of progress, and all that... I will say though, as much as I've criticized Dundon and as much as I loathe the existence of billionaires on principle, he has done an exceptional job of improving the fan experience, on the whole. Working with the league to expand the coverage map and bringing in outdoor games and all-star weeks has been huge. But, improving the quality on the ice (and of the ice) for all levels of hockey across the state has been even bigger! I forgot where I was going with all this, but... I'll still never forgive him for retiring Chuck K, though! HEY, HEY, WHADDYA SAY!!!!
