With the disrespect card stack getting bigger and bigger, will the Carolina Panthers be that team which a lot of talking heads predict as a pretender, or will they be a contender?

With almost the whole 2008 starting lineup returning, the Panthers think they are on the right road to success, however media outlets near and far are only expecting a mediocre season from a team that finished 12-4.

Carolina is a team that boast top five players in their positions at WR, RB, LB, LT, and DE. With this much talent the team feels confident in their ability to repeat a successful season and build on the momentum of 2008.

Fans are very quick to judge the new 2009 team either good, bad, or indifferent, they have taken their sides, however the smart fan should not be too shaken.

Carolina is a team that is solid, but lacking depth. Even with that small problem they have a lot of upside. The defense gave up and average of 300 yards and 30 points a game over the last stretch of 2008, so it cant get much worse. With the return of Julius Peppers, the addition of Everette Brown and Defensive coordinator Ron Meeks, Carolinas defense is poised to be at least less predictable in 2009.

As for offense, Jake Delhomme continues to be the topic of discussion. Jake had a terrible playoff game in 2008, and he has said he will fight back. Many are quick to forget that the Super Bowl winning Steelers QB accounted for 7 interceptions in two games back to back just last season. Not to mention the losses, the Steelers fought their way back and even found a way to win their 6th Lombardi trophy. Jake Delhomme is not the only QB to suffer in the playoffs, QB's like Montana, and Manning have come back from terrible playoff games to win a Super Bowl and do it in shining fashion.

With all of this said, the only thing left to do is to sit and watch. The 2009 Carolina Panthers are not the team to beat, but they are not the team to look over. This season will be one to remember, and a guy named DeAngelo Williams will make sure of that.

So Panther fans, sit back, crack open a cold one, relax and enjoy your 2009 Carolina Panthers team. Time will tell if they are who you think they are.

      Oh please with the wallowing in victimhood I'm going to take my ball and go home routine. You were just in here referring to people as super weird haters because they don't completely agree with your borderline delusional spin on what Bryce Young is and isn't as a fourth year starter. We can hope by some miracle that Bryce Young will actually be able to lead a formidable passing offense this season without being irrational homers and pretending verfiable data and what we have seen with our own two eyes doesn't tell us exactly what he has been to this point which is someone who moves the ball at a historically low rate.

      I am curious who's behind all of this though. A video and photos from years ago surfacing? Someone has a vendetta and is driving this PR campaign. I'm loving it, but I'd also like to know who said mystery figure is.

      I say positive things about Bryce when he earns them. Which he has a handful of times. It is all here and on the record but your lobby won’t focus on that or the flat out truth inside of our critical comments.  It is a constant thing with him and his backers - one or two good things and people are trying to extrapolate that to proof we should commit to him, while ignoring or making excuses for the larger portion of his track record.  When he is able to consistently turn in franchise QB extension worthy outings the tone of the posts will reflect that.  I have already said that if he would play like he did in the WC as often as we need him to, I would be okay with keeping him.  See you don’t want to talk about that though because it shows actual fair minded evaluation not stanning.
