I figured I'd wait to see if we made a clean sweep of things before I commented on any of the preseason...

Now, The way we are playing is totally different than either of the 2 previous Clifford-lead years.. there seems to be a confidence on the offensive end that wasn't there unless Al had the ball in his hands. Guys seem to enjoy playing with each other- something that hasn't been seen since our playoff push 2 years ago. Lance just seemed to zap the locker room of it's energy. The ball moves with a purpose, no empty ugly gawd-awful possessions. Lin has earned my trust off the bench for sure. PJ seems to have gotten more consistent.

With all this being said, I believe it means Nothing. Players and coaches know it means Nothing. But a seed of confidence has been planted - and with some regular season wins to water the seed - that confidence will grow. If we come off the block with a 2-4 record or something, the preseason moves from a Nothing to a BIG Nothing and confidence will have to built up through the season. But as of right now, a ground layer of confidence has been laid and we can build off of in in the regular season. Winning is contagious and the carry-over effect could help us out early this season.

It is definitely something...   I only got to see us against the Clippers as our franchise thinks that apparently we don't need to televise preseason games (good job, idiots)  but I've followed every game and there I a clear difference from years past.  Watching this team, there is a tangible chemistry that I've haven't seen since our first incarnation of pro basketball.  The offense is more fluid than I can ever remember and I think this is the deepest we've ever been.  I said in the MKG Injury thread that I still expected to be a 4 or 5 seed, and the preseason has landed some credibility to my prediction.

For some perspective, IIRC, think back to our most recent seasons and how we performed in preseason.  We were inconsistent and not very successful, and that carried over to the regular season.   In my opinion, aside from playing scrubs for extended minutes, nba preseason is probably the greatest indicator of what your team is compared to every other pro sport's preseason.  It is a very real microcosm of what your team is and will be, and I'm excited about what we've shown.

Yeah that makes no sense to me either. Let's hope they've improved the regular season broadcasting this go around at least.

Can't read too much into preseason, but anyone can see that our offense looks much improved this year.

I think it means something.

I have always felt that effort in the NBA and MLB really crank up in the postseason.

I don't see a major increase in effort between preseason and regular season like I do in football.

This team's cohesion in the preseason is a fantastic sign of things to come.

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
