How did we get here?

When I think about teams that win, no matter what, I think about the Patriots. Sure, they've had Randy Moss and Wes Welker but this year they have a cast of not house hold names. Much like another team we all know well. However, they most always find a way to win. Their winning attitude has to come from somewhere. That attitude has to be instilled in them and it starts from the top.

The Panthers, somewhere along the way, someone has said "this is how it's going to be, this is how we're going to move forward". I don't know if it was Gettleman or Ron Rivera, or who it was. But someone or a group of people have put a winning attitude in this team. I'm not giving the coaching staff all the credit, because the players are the ones who go out and fight and make things happen and I personally think it's a collective effort, not just a couple people. And I'm not saying that we just now wanted to start winning. What I am saying though, is that coaches have been staying late after practice to work, guys are going to the weight room on their day off, the tone has been set. These guys have bought into this and believe in it. Read the interviews, guys are playing for each other. I can't say enough about this organization as a whole, everyone is putting in work.

Cam Newton

Without his ability to run like a bull and the laser beam arm (along with a killer defense), we wouldn't be close to where we are. He carries this offense on his back and any team that plays us feels the pain. Having him adds a whole new dimension to defend against.

Cause our GM is a master at specifically molding our roster into what our philosophy is. From top to bottom this team is in harmony.

Ya dont need flash and stats to win. We have the right type of people in the right places doing the right thing. Harmony.

He's using the money ball formula

    • A team should always be putting at least one or two draft picks in at tackle and guard each season. Those guys just don't last nearly long enough and those that do get very, very expensive. In our situation, we need a little more time to see what the Icky injury works itself out to. Njiman performed really well out there and if this injury lingers into the next season, then he might do well enough there to hold the line for the team. Or we could draft early if there is a stud LOT in the draft when our spot comes along.  Honestly, we may be looking at replacing both LT and RT this season at this point. Moton is getting long in the tooth and while he deserves a shot to go for a playoff run with this team, I don't know whether we will really see him come back next season yet. It's still so darned early in all of this to say.
    • Because we had a ton of things go our way this year and made the playoffs with a -70 point differential.  This year was the outlier.  Regression to the mean is unavoidable.  So the team will have to significantly improve to beat 8 wins next year.
    • One thing I noticed in this game (and I say this as the biggest of Bryce Young haters) is that Bryce did do a solid job of throwing into voids in this game, and leading receivers on crossers.  There were a few times where I was thinking "where the hell is he throwing it" only for a receiver to appear out of nowhere and catch it in stride.  Mike McDaniel might be a guy that can squeeze a little bit of production out of the otherwise ghastly Bryce Young. His offenses heavily feature that style of passing game.  I've heard Idzik is drawing interest from other teams.  If so, bringing McDaniel in at OC would be a stellar move.  I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.
