is the because the LA Rams played in a sand lot?

The Rams played in the LA  Coliseum. This was built for the 1932 (Nineteen Thirty Two) Summer Olympics. Yes they played in that run down dump over 30 years. They also played their last 15 years in Los Angeles in the California Angels baseball stadium, AKA the Big A.

Los Angeles has never built an NFL Stadium, ever.

so? solider field was built i the 20s, and the Bears didn't even start playing there until the 70s.

It's a stadium. It's a round building with seats. There's a field in the middle. It's not complicated and doesn't matter what it's built for. The falcons play in something that was just built for the olympics as well.

LA built a stadium that housed an NFL team for over 30 years, but whatever.

True the Rams occupied the Coliseum 15 years after it was built in 1947, of course the builders had no idea NFL football would eventually arrive in LA. Even the LA Dodgers played in the Coliseum for 3 years while Dodger stadium was built in the late 50's early 60's.

What matters of course is the amenities, Suites etc. Hence no Super Bowls have been played in the Coliseum since 1973.

Suffice to say Los Angeles hasn't had what would pass for an NFL quality stadium since the 70's.

I really hope they never move... But with our nationwide success and growing fan base, this team would do very well in LA... no one can deny that.

Everyone has a price, let's just hope that it never comes to that.

Aren't they locked here for 4 years anyway, why are we discussing this?  Even the 4 years after that have multi-million dollar penalties, even if millions is pale in billion dollar team talks it does play greatly into the mix.

Besides, It would only open the door for the next team to move to Charlotte if they did.  The city has so many transplants and a growth expectation to 3.5 million in the next 2 decades.  Other owners would be licking their chops to move here.

Speaking of teams moving to LA, it's funny to see this article today pop up.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/photo--poor-raiders-using-paper-cups-to-plug-leaks-at-o-co-coliseum-135136603.html

Al Davis once made a major power play to move his Raiders to Los Angeles. To play in the LA Coliseum? Hell no, to get a new stadium built in Oakland, where the Raiders belong or possibly even in LA. Al's strong arm tactics failed miserably. Bottom line Al eventually returned to Oakland with his tail between his legs to play in a true shithole, the Oakland Coliseum. Yeah, that's a baseball diamond behind that top of the line CRT.

I'll deny it. NC is the 13th largest state as far as realty goes and is booming in the realty market. And I didn't even bring-up SC.

LA is trash and just because Hollywood and Death-Row records are there doesn't mean squat when it comes to marketing sales regarding a football team.

You thjnk LA-types are gonna run around camp-fires in Panther-uni's? Heck-no...LA types are either pipe-dream prostitutes or ego-maniacal plastic surgeons and their snotty bungalo-boozers with sprayed-on tans.

givd me a break...LA sucks and if the Panthers ever leave Charlotte, it'll be because of some natural-disaster, not because JR wants $.

This whole thread is unbearable and I want this whole stupid thread locked in a time-vault right below Ric Flair's Hollywood square so we can have the two stupidest things that this City has produced to be the first things dumped down the San Andreas fault when the big-one finally hits.

fug this thread, fug ric flair and fug LA...

Dear Lord, please forgive me for all my vitriolistic tendencies concerning the stupid that is so prominent in this thread.

There's so much stupidity and generalizations in this post.

As previously mentioned, Jerry is a big part of the relocation to LA but it has nothing to do with moving the Panthers.

Given there are two current competing proposals, it is important to know that he sides with San Diego/Oakland moving to Carson instead of Rams moving to Inglewood because owners like JR want a stadium with more than one team. This means that the only way the Rams move to LA is if Kroenke agrees to share a stadium with the Chargers because the Raiders aren't going anywhere.

Looks like Jerry may not have been on the up and up when he brought Iger in. I don't think it is actually collusion but it's not a good look for him.

Damn. Well hello LA Rams.
