Wes Horton: Decision time

  1. 1. With DE Wes Horton's suspension over, the team needs to decide whether to reactivate him. If they do, someone will lose a roster spot. Who would you pick?

    • WR Kevin Norwood

    • RB Brandon Wegher

    • DE Ryan DelAire

Assuming no player is injured enough to warrant being sent to IR, thus opening up a roster spot, we have to face the question of what to do re: Wes Horton and a roster spot.

If we activate him, we need to waive someone on the 53.

1) Should we activate Horton?

2) If so, who gets waived?

Note, in the poll, I've mostly listed rookies and those who could make the PS if they clear waivers... no criticism intended of ANY of the players I've listed (except perhaps CJ whose recent play has been so disappointing.  But ...I know waiving him is NOT going to happen.....)

I say promote him over Delaire, which you sign back to our practice squad for next years camp. Horton is very good at stopping the run and is a good 1st and 2nd down DE. We could immediately put him in the rotation so maybe other people will be fresher.

edit: as Horton is waived by the team.

    • That he gets worse while at the same time getting more exposure is just typical.
    • And, yes, I've been a slow boil, but watching continually watching shitty displays of football for weeks has me frustrated.
    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
