Jonathan Stewart had his ankle rolled up on. Wasn't his foot. Good news for Carolina. Should be fine with treatment

 

Rivera confirmed that DE Jared Allen is getting MRI on his foot. RB Jonathan Stewart is little sore, but there is no major concern there.

 

Ron Rivera says "no issue" with Cam Newton showing his emotions on sideline. Says it was not frustration about play-calling.

Rivera says Panthers will look at disguising blitz more effectively. Rivera credited Wilson for making the right read and executing.

 

Ron Rivera on Cardinals: You can't go into a game like this saying, well, we beat this team last year.

 

 

Rivera said Andrew Norwell made three blocks on Stewart's 59-yard run to open game. Tolbert and Funchess with good efforts as well.

Rivera says Patriots remain the gold standard. "The goal is not just to be a perennial playoff team."

 

 

Rivera has great respect for coach Arians. "I appreciate how he stays true to who he is."

 

 

Ron Rivera says Jared Allen is going to want to do everything he can to play. 12-year veteran has never played in a Super Bowl.

 

 

Ron Rivera says if Jared Allen can't play, he'll probably hang around and be "an annoyance."

      I still think another QB is brought in Day 3. Grier is camp body level at this point.

      We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.

      I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
