A bit of a subplot

Back in 1999, Broncos Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips was head coach of the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills famously lost a playoff game to the Tennessee Titans that season on what would come to be called "The Music City Miracle".

In the aftermath of that heartbreaking loss, Phillips fired the Bills Special Teams Coach of the time.

The name of that Special Teams Coach?  Bruce DeHaven.

DeHaven and Phillips now face each other as opponents in Super Bowl 50, but word is DeHaven isn't carrying a grudge.  He admits he was pretty angry about what happened, but has since let it go.

(bet it'd still be fun for DeHaven to beat him though; especially if a great special teams play is involved)

As much as I look at coaching backgrounds, I should have known this. But until I saw the story, I had no idea.

Typo that caused serious confusion for me for about 15 seconds, I was about to say "a defensive coordinator can fire a special teams coach? weird".  I think you mean to say "Denver defensive coordinator" heh.
