Getting Benji Back

Funchess > KB in the long run. But for sure, KB will be a big gain for the offense

I don't know if I agree with that. Funchess may be a little quicker but KB's hands and ability to get separation seemed far superior his rookie year.

However, I just looked everything up and I never knew that Funchess is only 21 while Benjamin is 25. Knowing that Funchess has another 2 years before he is the same age Benji came into the NFL makes me feel a lot better about his future.

Meh, I love the idea of both Devin and KB on the field, but I'm not gonna lie....I think much better hands with Ginn speed will warrant double coverage, therefore, blowing the top off the defense. You know, the type of WR we wish Ginn or Philly could be!

For me, it was Brandin Cooks, the Devin Smith, and this year it's Corey Coleman. I could deal with Cooper. I dont think Pharoah can offer more than Philly at this time, but I think he has a higher ceiling!

I think Coleman, Cooper, or Shepard could draw 2 DBs off into the wild green yonder just about every play. That's a game changer!

However, we must fix the trenches first!

I just hope Cam doesn't get too fixated on KB.  One of the strengths of this  years offense has been the way Cam has been willing to throw the ball to whoever is open.  I don't want us to return to a situation where he's targeting KB 15 times a game.

When I think of something like this, or Alshon Jeffery, I have to stop and wonder how this could affect team chemistry and whether or not it would set back the development of the WRs. Could CJ be anything more than the equivalent of a 6th man? He's beaten up and needs to only be a situational player. Not sure he's worth bringing in. Still under contract with the Lions, too, so we'd have to give them something.

Wow, Alshon, Benji, and Devin!

In four years, a run first team could have 30% of their cap space dedicated to WR position! Someone would be heading to FA, possibly 2

Well Cam also didn't have Ginn or a better developed Corey Brown when KB was playing.

If we go out and get some aging veteran like Calvin Johnson, I think it would reek of desperation. We would not be headed in the right direction.

I agree. It would be a nice signing but an unnecessary one. We win the super bowl if Cotchery and Ginn catch the football. Ironically Calvin would make those catches but with a hefty price tag.

Thats right, which is why it hopefully wont be a problem.  Add in Funch, who Cam seemed to gel with as the year unfolded and it might not be an issue.

So, I haven't dug too deep into it yet, but if the top TE prospect is available at 30 and he's the BPA on our board, would anyone think that DG wouldn't pull the trigger? I think the only BPA he wouldn't draft in round one is a QB or DT.

No one predicted a LB last year in round one. Upgrading the backup TE position in round one this year is an interesting idea if the chips fall that way.

    • I've seen enough tape review to see that we run crossers...we have dudes in the middle of the field. I have to think that this is a harder area for someone of Bryce's stature to hit. You have to see directly over the center of the line and is probably where the most interceptions happen (he has thrown a LOT of his picks by not seeing a dude in the middle of the field).
    • I’m pretty sure we did end up getting the first in that drive, but I don’t remember. It was obviously a catch the ball didn’t move
    • While I don't think NFL games are fully rigged, it's certainly closer to a scripted outcome than we all think. The NFL by their own admission in court is not a fair and balanced sporting event. It is a managed entertainment product, a "spectacle" as they've put it, that now has sports betting as a huge financial pillar of their business model. It's ridicuously naive to still think the NFL isn't using referees to manage the games towards certain outcomes, using "replays in the booth" and overturning calls, choosing to overlook penalties at critical moments and calling questionable and sometimes phantom game changing penalties at other critical junctures of games. The NFL has always done this going as far back as the '60s, and they were investigated by the FBI in the '70s which found a large number of ownership groups had ties to the mob. So when the overwhelming majority of the moneyline bets were on the Panthers vs the Saints last week, and suddenly we see some strange and ticky tack penalties we've rarely seen called on the Panthers all year, I just know there's more going on behind the scenes. And suddenly next week, the Panthers will probably be nudged to a win, to keep the NFC South race interesting, as I see the Bucs are the favorite as of now and most moneyline bets will trend towards the Bucs until during the game when the Bucs are leading heading into the 4th quarter, and the Panthers are nudged to a win. At least, that's what the NFL and Vegas probably want to happen.
