Guess we can post em here to see where the wind is blowing towards the end of the first round.

Was intrigued with Ogbahs size and quickness for the DE position, but as I go on, he seems to be dropping to the end of the first and Jeremiah does not have him in the top 50 prospects.

Mayock did not list him either.

Would be great to get him in the second like we did Kony, maybe picking up Apple in the first

Anyone else feel like it's overall a weak draft?

Could we see Gettleman pull the trigger on a big deal to move up and get a legit 1st round talent guy?

We have some money to play with so its possible Gettleman could address some back end needs in FA and pull the trigger on a move to get a legit pass rusher. I also like the idea of Karl Joseph and move Coleman to SS or getting Cravens and him being a way better version of Roman Harper

I know this much, this year's draft is better than last year's.

I believe this is creamy top 70ish draft. I like the chances that the panther will very good players at the end of top two rounds.

DL is nuts, everyone knows that. The small schools and divison II schools have some good ones that here being pushed til late rounds. I'll say that some drafted in the 5th -7th will end up giving teams heavy snaps as starters.

It's not a flashy draft class, its a meat potato class. LBs,DL, and whole OL are looking grrreat, whereas QB, WR, RBs(mius the top guy)and TEs look meh.

I have a strange feeling we'll grab either a combo of (DE, OT/OG, DT) or (DE, OT/OG, CB) in the first three rounds. Even though I really want to go DE in the first, I could totally see a surprise draft like:

#30) Jason Spriggs OT / Indiana or Germain Ifedi OT / Texas A&M

#62) Austin Johnson DT / Penn State

#94) Jihad Ward DE / Illinois or Shawn Oakman DE / Baylor (if Gettleman likes him.)

Really just depends on how BPA falls this year.

I see no problem using a 1st on OT, I mean if Conklin or Decker are there run up and turn the card in. Doubtful either last, but there's talk of devalued @ LT. I mean look at the Superbowl and many other teams, they've run out slacks ones and still win. I still place LT at 3rd overall in want\need behind QB and Pass rusher.

LT needs a multiple year solution. Who knows what Dave will do, I believe he first checks in with ohers' agent to see how much a 3-4 contract extension would run. I mean right now the backup is frenchie or chanlder, hope cams got good insurance. This needs needs to be addressed.

I liked Jason spriggs more before the senior bowl. I caught a few practices and he like most OL had a bad time. Funny thing is those drills are heavily in DL favor. Plus that's a spot where coaching plays a ultra valuable role. Knowing his arm length and bench in at the combine with be key. He may pass on the bench....

Germain Ifedi count me as a fan. Whoever the OL coach is at a&m he knows how to make these boys look like pros. Last year I liked ogbuehi more than joeckel. They all come with great technique and each look great on film cause they're prepared well during the week before.

Austin Johnson poor guy, last year near 1st rounder lock. Now I could see him falling to early 3rd. 1st round could easily have 15 DL picked before panthers turn. Some DL must fall, and Johnson could be one of them.

I cannot comment on ward or oakman, I've only researched some the top guys.

Gettleman to me,I might be wrong, is a system man.  He believes in his system and adheres to it.

When I look at the system he came out of, I see DE's, DT's, CB's, WR's, and a few Safety's and RB's in the 1st round.  Very few lineman.  Those guys seem to come from the 3rd round on.

So, my thinking is that he would take a DE, CB, DT or maybe even a safety before an OT.  Could be wrong

I understand the past, I'll just add the value of OT wasn't there. Plus he was more of a pro personail type and others where focused on drafting. Not to say he didn't give input

Last year Dave said DJ hump and shaq where holding hands on the draft board. Now that could be a white lie, who knows.

I mean lets say by some miracle tunsil is there @ 30, im about 99.9999999999% sure Dave would draft him.

I believe you're right in stating he see more value in other positions, we know for sure @DL.

So far, he has picked a DT, WR, and LB, following the NYG system.

Who knows, he might pick an OT, but with Oher and D Williams on the roster, not sure why, with his history, that he'd pick one now especially since they will be a backup for at least a year.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
