Jury's Out: ESPN week 2 picks.

Yeah, so what? It's a good pick. We are on the road against a better team than the one who just spanked us 38-10, do you expect them to pick us to win?

I disagree that Atlanta is a better team than Philly. Philly is (with Mcnabb) almost as good offensively and better defensively).

That being said, Atlanta should be at least a two TD favorite.

Offense

Atlanta > Philly

Defense

Atlanta = Philly

ST's

Atlanta > Philly

Based on what? The only thing we can go on at this point in the year is numbers from last year. Anything else is just a WAG.

Stats from last year (NFC only):

Atlanta 3rd in total offense, Philly 6th. Atlanta 13th in total defense, Philly #1. Philly played a tougher schedule last year..

Offense: Atlanta > Philly by a hair

Defense Philly >>>>>>>>>> Atlanta

Special teams Atlanta slightly better than philly by the numbers

Doesn't look like the jury is out to me. They have made their decisions and we are hung... But that's not important right now. Nobody but true fans believe we can win and even alot of those are not picking us. I remember a few years back, it was Car v TB (the FG game) nobody was picking us in that game either. (except me :)) The Panthers have always had a way of shocking the country and this weekend will be no different!!!!

the Panthers have the talent where they can beat any team in the NFL when good Jake shows up......we all know that. The national media seems to forget there is a HUGE difference in talent between Carolina and the group they are lumping us with right now.

"Good Jake oh Good Jake wherefore art thou Good Jake"

Anyone else miss Good Jake.

    • The teams this 2nd year player (can’t really blame the years before he was drafted on him) was playing were going 100% as most do most weeks in the NFL. The whole argument is about his play during that period and how well was he actually playing. I’m with you on the winning though. Just start winning and fans will get excited. Start getting in the playoffs and winning and we won’t care how his PFF or box score stats look. 200 yards a game to 400 yards a game, start scoring and winning playoffs games and 99% of fans will buy in.
    • Yeah, we are gonna be raw.  Wonnum, for the past 3 years, has been averaging 8 sacks a season (4 in one season when he missed half a season).  I am OK, but yes, they will be thrown to the fire.
    • I like this because it means one or both of the rookies will be thrust into a bigger role right away and we can see what they might be. I don't like this because it just makes our team that much younger and inexperienced.  You need vets to help the young guys learn, I just hope we aren't going too far in the opposite direction.  All our FA signings were guys just coming off their rookie deals too, I get why we're doing it, but having the savvy vets help in other ways too.
