Underwhelming Combine

I can't recall a combine that I was nore unimpressed with in regards to size/athleticism.

Just for exanple, Bosa is the concensus #1...  he's got ideal size for a DE/outside rusher, but he ran a 4.9.  Compare that to guys like Peppers, Watt, and Clowney, and it's a joke.

Obviously, all that matters is if a guy can play the game, but the numbers do give some insight and this entire rookie class is by far one of, if not THE least impressive group of athletes I can recall in my years of keeping up with the combine.

The impressive athletes are the guys over 300 running 5 flat with 1.70 10 yd splits.

But that's my point...  compared to years past, that isn't super impressive.  And relative to their peers, there are a lot of guys at that size running the same numbers, yet smaller DEs are running slower splits and 40s.  Just very underwhelming.

I mean, Getts was right, the interior DL is probably the strongest group, but to me, that's a luxury for us, especially if we hold onto both Star and KK.

We almost certainly will need another rotational guy to replace Dwan Edwards, and it never hurts to have depth.  Remember how worried we all were about Star's foot injury at the start of the season...

Yeah, at this point, i will trust that Gettleman is making the right decision, whatever it wnds up being...  but, i think DE is a much greater need going into the draft.  Maybe that changes after FA, but hard to imagine because edge rushers are always at a premium.

Oh I DEFINITELY agree that DE is our biggest need. I see us signing 1 and drafting 1.
