That Locker Room Leadership...Wow!

There's a link to this video in another thread, but this deserves it's own discussion.  In an interview on CNBC's "Squawk Box", Rivera is interviewed and discusses how his team leaders have stepped in to take care of locker room issues.  The story starting at :49 is pretty amazing to me.

Nutshell - young player breaks rule; coach is about to take care of it when vet says "I'll take care of it"; later vet comes back and says "done"; Rivera asks what'd you do?; Vet says, "I told him I talked to coach and we're not going to fine you.  I told him 'if you're going to break that rule, fine me'!"

He didn't identify the players involved but I can picture any one of our captains taking care of business in that situation.  Don't think the young player will break that rule again!

Old story, but still a good one.

I'd heard many times about the captains taking care of such things; I'd never heard the angle where a vet told the young guy due some discipline that he'd advised the coach to fine him (the vet) if the kiddo broke the rule again...and made it clear to the younger player what he'd told the coach.  Thought that was nice way to keep things in line.

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
