My mom passed away at 58 years of age on  August 1, 2001--10 monrhs after my Dad passed away at the same age.  Tough times.  My point---take nothing for granted. Call/visit Mom today because time is limited

My mom has had a rough few years physically and emotionally after spending the better part of 5 years caring after her mother-in-law, her own parents, and her sister who had down's syndrome and passed away at 58 years old.

it's hard looking at your mom and realizing that she is now in her 70s and not in good health. i had the benefit of having 3/4 of my grandparents until i was in my 30s. my two daughters won't get that privilege because i waited until i was in my late 30s to start having kids. fortunately i am in a situation where my kids get to see my parents daily. i just wish that they were going to get to see a more lively version of my mom. years of caring for others took their toll on her.

i'm just going to have to keep sharing stories about the vitality she had along with the strength that she showed in all she did with the hopes that at some point in the near future they get to see a glimpse of that for themselves.

remember who your mom is/was and allow that to make an impact on who you are and use her story to hopefully infuence those who come later to become better people. mom's are a true (and often under-appreciated) blessing.

i'm just glad i have a wife who is a remarkeable woman who has become an amazing mom to our kids (and, many times to me who can act like a baby).

I was a sh!thead, so this day is no different than any day for me. I think about her every day. Bitter sweet day... July 25, 2011. The day the lockout ended. She was a huge Bears fan, and now finally the Cubs are looking for real. So I'm a legacy Cubs fans because of her. Wearing the hat everyday.

Nov 25th 2005. Talk about a rough Thanksgiving. Aneurysm out of the blue.

I'm not sad though. She was a bad ass and I'm thankful I had her as a mother.

It's also my fiancé's first Mother's Day as a mom so it's a great day again.

Gonna buy some roses for her, for mom and for Lola (Filipino Grandma).

Happy Mother's Day to the few and proud Huddle Moms on this board.

    • There was some pretty egregious missed calls vs the Chiefs in the Lions game, especially Kelce. The completion where he clearly used the ground to catch the ball. The hold in front of the ref as Pacheco ran by where the defender was trying to turn around and couldnt because Kelce had him by the jersey. Mahomes openly taunting after scoring a TD. 0 penalties after double digit the week before. Cmon.
    • People get trade happy and look at resources as barter items. They fail to see them as resources to be used to our benefit rather than someone else's. Right now, Chuba and Rico are massive benefits to us and a strong rushing attack so greatly benefits any passer, much less a young one like Bryce still is.  And the better our running game, the more our offense can eat up the clock, the less time our defense is on the field. And that is priceless, too. Don't mess with the running game. Don't mess with the receivers. Maybe look at our O-line and think we may have hit on something good during these injuries. Look at our D-line and seem some strength evolving there. Our secondary has its good spots and some that are still developing. Our linebacking corps did well this last outing. Our special teams are on a major upswing as of this past week. Heck, even our QB is showing us a little something right now that we can build on. Perhaps putting out a yard sale sign right now might be less advantageous than looking at the team and saying, "You are all part of something good that is happening. We want to see that continue to grow."
