Killjoys vs. Dark Matter

Both syfy. Neither great. But one is better. Which one in your opinion?

Killjoys is really bad, and I've only watched 2 episodes, but it sucks. 2 people to maintain a space ship? K. Really not a fan at all, but I'm watching.

Dark Matter has been getting better as it goes along. I was slow to get into it, but this is why I like summer shows. Good B TV.

Plus I mean really? What's not to like?

I watch them both.  I think Killjoys has better characters and is more whimsical, but I like the idea behind Dark Matter a little bit more.  But with that, both of them have good starts to season 2.  Liking them much more than the first seasons.

I feel like the problem with both of them is the characters don't really feel unique but so far i've liked Dark Matter better.

 

The show i enjoyed the most on syfy this season was probably wynonna earp. Pretty cheesy but in a good way.

Both shows are good.  Killjoys is more of a fun/comedic show but this season I think it's done a good job pushing the story instead of just "criminal of the week" type stuff.   The "soldier" dude is the only one that is kind of wooden but Dutch and the tech guy are solid.  They don't run their own ship, they have a highly advanced AI doing most of that.  Mostly, it works.

Dark Matter has a more serious tone and a slower build up the the story, they've did a good job branching out some of the characters this season and that's made it a bit more interesting.   I can't say one is better than the other because they are trying to accomplish different things (of course minus being space shows).

The Expanse is great too, a bit better production values and higher quality than the previous two.

Yeah, the Expanse is on an entire other level than these shows.  It's as close to BSG as SyFy has gotten.

I watched season 1 of Dark Matter and thoroughly enjoyed it.

imo season 2 hasn't been as good.

 

I have not seen Killjoys.

 

I watched the 1st season of the Expanse and also really enjoyed... so much so that I read 'Leviathan Wakes' last week and am about half way thru 'Corriban's War' right now.

 

They changed the Expanse a LOT from the original book. The basic premise and characters are the same, but there's a ton of little things that I prefer in the books that they changed for the show.

Doesn't matter. SYFY will pull a show if it starts gaining popularity. Defiance could have lasted much longer.

Defiance was pretty good, I've also been watching some of The magicians so far its not bad but i'm only on episode 4

SyFy has three top notch shows in Magicians, Expanse, and 12 Monkeys.

Then they have some really good ones right now in Killjoys and Dark Matter.

Z Nation is stupid but it's supposed to be and is pretty entertaining when you realize that lol.

Have to admit though so far i'm really not liking the lead in the magicians. His character is annoying so far

tbh I'm surprised 12 monkeys made it to season 2. I couldn't get past about 5 episodes.

Now that I've finished the first season of killjoys, I stand by my first impression of it, not very good and the theme didy sucks too.

12 Monkeys is a top tier show and became really, really awesome.  Renewed for season 3.   It's been a great surprise.

Killjoys has gotten much better in season 2 with a clear storyline.
