Bourbon/whiskey recommendation

I've always been a fan of Knob Creek for drinking straight up, for a single drink after work over Maker's Mark. They're pretty close, but Knob Creek has a little smoother finish IMO and doesn't sit on the tongue quite as heavy. For mixers, I don't think it really matters between the two. For cooking though, it's Makers all the way. The alcohol cooks off better and and leaves a better flavor. I'm willing to spend a few bucks more for a better liquor as long as it's not for a party. If it's going to be a trash can punch party, then it's the really good stuff, $3 for a 55 gallon drum.

My wife doesn't drink at all but will go through a pint of Makers easily in a hot toddy, if she's sick.  Hot tea, lemon, coat the sides of a mug or glass with honey first, a good shot of makers.  Yum

That sounds pretty damn amazing actually. How do you coat the inside of the mug with the honey..do you just swirl the mug around or use your finger?  I might make this tonight.

you don't even need to coat it. best sore throat remedy in the world is to stir in honey with hot water til it dissolves and then add a shitload of super potent bourbon. the hot water open up your pores, the honey soothes it, and the whiskey kills all the pathogens back there on your throat (well probably not but at least it numbs you and makes you feel better.)

actually i usually choke down the water/honey mixture first and then shoot wild turkey 101 straight on my throat right after.
