Collapse of the running game has exposed Cam's weaknesses as a passer

I swear this fan base does not deserve Cam. The coaches and FO put everything on his shoulders and he's carried this team ever since his rookie year. Then during 1 epic poo fest of a season from the FO all the way down to the coaches and all other players around Cam, we point blame at Cam for not being able to carry us one more time when the weight is greater than ever. Just LOL. I wouldn't blame Cam at all for peacing out on this team one day. We are a joke. Including the "fans".

The Red...right on time. Fiz is correct. Cam has not grown, at all, and the league did. Norv experience will save Cam, if he wants to grow as a passer. He will now be a year older, another year of punishment. Cam has to become the complete QB. Year 7, I'd make Peyton Manning my BFF.

Yeah he's grown so little that he was MVP of the league last year when our OL was actually decent.

Stop posting.

Cam has always been a more athletic version of Brett Favre, right down to Favre's weaknesses.

Even up till the end of his career, Favre never lost his tendency to throw hardballs, his habit of throwing at least one or two "WTF" passes a game, or his gambling nature that occasionally backfired.

I doubt Cam will either.

Yes, you can win with a Brett Favre, but the formula has to be right. Honestly, every quarterback has weaknesses you have to work around. Newton is no exception.

The Panthers offense is not built to pass the ball 65% of the time while trailing on 40% of their offensive drives.

The read option, Ginn end arounds, QB runs and deep pass deception with Ginn will not be effective in these situations. The Panthers offense was built to bully a defense while playing with a lead. The only way to make that happen is to field a defense that does not consistently give up the lead.

For every time you want to point out the defense blew a lead, I can point to an offense that couldn't sustain a drive in the fourth quarter, or a pass that Cam couldn't make, or a turnover that he threw.

Was it the defense's fault he stared down Kelvin Benjamin today? Or that he was spraying passes all over the field? Sub 40 completion percentage has nothing to do with the defense. The chargers are a garbage defense, can't rush the passer, and lost their best player earlier in the game.

There are injuries on the offensive line, and massive regression from Kelvin, Remmers, and Tolbert.

I have no idea why Cam is immune from criticism here. All these factors are cyclical; they all impact one another.

If Cam had a better mid range passing game that could force the defenses to respect the middle of the field it would ameliorate lots of problems. I'm not sure why this is a controversial statement.

The reasons he was MVP last year are no longer applicable, unless you want him to be a lead runner and not be able to feed himself in ten years.

Didn't Stew basically rush for 1,000 yards last year?

Cam looked like a complete QB in all respects last year.

He hasn't looked the same this season. For various reasons.

But the ultimate truth of the matter is this franchise had a roster fit to make another Super Bowl run, and we didn't go all in. Ranting about Newton isn't going to change that fact.

cam is not having a great year and has made his share of bad plays (see KC int)

but no QB in the NFL will perform with no running game....defenses are too fast...any team that is one-dimensional is going to fail

we have to run the ball...especially in december and the playoffs

Thanks for that knute

The Panthers running game was predicated upon Cam being a runner. It covered up the fact he has no short to mid range passing game.

But he can't run anymore, and it's pretty clear the team can't run without that threat. So he's going to need to compensate for that.
