Chargers LT King Dunlap arrested

For violation of protective order he says he knew about.  Not sure whether 2017 is a year the league or team care about crimes against women, but still, shaky play and an arrest are never a good thing.

The Chargers are cap strapped.  We already know whey won't go RB early.  But perhaps they reach at LT over going safety.

Apparently his GF invited him, but the neighbors called?

The things you learn.

Worrick Robinson, Dunlap's attorney, said the tackle was preparing to leave Nashville for San Diego for offseason training, and his girlfriend asked if he needed to pick up some of his clothes. Neighbors saw Dunlap's car in the driveway and called police, Robinson said.

"This event was a misunderstanding between the parties as to what was allowed under the order," Robinson told WKRN-TV. "They had been discussing a joint resolution. This was not an egregious event, but two parties trying to come to a mutual understanding. Unfortunately, a literal reading of the order meant absolutely no contact, and we trust the facts will resolve all issues in a favorable way for Mr. Dunlap."

Interesting and since it's the offseason fine, but this is not relevant to us at all.

Of course it is.  Since we actually beat those guys in a meaningless December game and they couldn't even beat the Browns, they have dibs on us in all 7 rounds. Their tackle situation went from bad to defcon with this news.  It SHOULD affect how we think leading up to and during the draft, as should many other things.

Their tackle situation didn't change at all. And you don't go into the draft based on what you think other teams will do. Other teams have absolutely zero effect on how you should approach the draft. Rank the players, take the best that's available.

Agree to disagree, strongly at that.  If you don't know other team's situations by being so zeroed on on your own, you're not only going to risk losing value in potential trade up/down scenarios, but possibly get run over by a Mack Truck.  It's an all encompassing process filled with different levels of risk/reward that one doesn't even have to be a big money GM to see.

And there's also the conduct/arrest/war on women policy.  Which way will the cookie crumble this year?

    • You are right. At the same time I don’t think people are watching games going come on Bryce put it on the ground or sail it OB or whatever. They just have trouble seeing him turning his 3 or four or five top games of 2025 into the weekly standard outing. Which you expect for the kind of money he will ask for (speaking for myself anyway).
    • In terms of comparing Pickett and Young's arm talent it's basically a push at best. Pickett is sitting at 6.2 yards per pass attempt for his career while Bryce sits at 6.0 Last season Bryce was 6.3 in yards per pass attempt. Only Justin Fields Spencer Rattler (both 6.2) Kyler Murray (6.0) 41 year old Joe Flacco (6.0) 44 year old Phillip Rivers (5.9) rookie Cam Ward (5.9) and Tyrod Taylor (5.8) had less pass yards per attempt than Bryce Young in his third season as a starter. Folks going around acting as if it is beyond the pale to say Pickett might have a better arm than Young are living in an alternate reality. You can choose to not believe your own eyes after 46 games but everyone else will acknowledge reality and move forward accordingly.
