This board is going to hell.  It takes nearly an entire page before someone adds a constructive opinion.  Instead we get a bunch of F__ing bullshyt about stuff unrelated to the topic.    If it was posted and is off the front page I don't go back either.  If you feel that you want to bring it back to the front page than carry your ass back and bump the thread.

Secondly spelling is NOT a requirement here.  If you can't figure out who the OP  is talking about.  Then move on.

Unless your a Igo or any one of the other mods STFU about whining that someone started a post that YOU feel is a retread or someone misspells a name.   If it is a repeat and they feel I doesn't need to be rehashed than they'll delete it.

NOW to the Topic at hand.

Fornette, is my top pick but I would not trade up for him.   We will get a top tier player when the fallout of the top seven is done.  I believe we will be in great shape even if only 1 QB is taken before us.

Thank you! Totally agree we should definitely get an awesome player at 8 but do want Fornette. If someone told me before last season that we would have any chance at getting him I would have laughed. Dudes awesome.

Shelby, Morganton, Marion, etc. were areas that blacks didn't necessarily want to be caught out at night---sundown towns---especially Marion, according to my wife who was born and raised in Asheville. Just thought I'd note the contrast. It's beautiful land and topography though.

JStew is 5'11" 235. Fournette is 6'1". Not a big deal in my opinion.

Wow, 6-1 240 is stout.  I seriously don't want him to run in the 4.3s or low 4.4s before the draft.  In fact a bad time would be better.  haha

As far as injuries go he will not have as many touches in the NFL he was way over used they literally jump on his back and carried that team and they still couldn't stop him. Now last season was not as impressive as his last cause he was play hurt all year.
I think he is a player you have to fight to get even if that means trading up to get we have the picks to do it and still have plenty of picks left or shift a mid round pick next year. If the cb drops to the jets I think they will go defense.
What would it take to trade to the 2nd or 3rd spot?

Totally agree. We won't keep all 7 or 8 picks we got. Don't see why we don't move up and get someone better than pick 8. Also move up into the second and get two second rounders.

I don't think fournette is a great fit for carolina.  Not sure how well fournette runs out of the shotgun.  If we draft him we'd be running a lot more of the offense from under center.    That's not cam's strength.   I'm not on the fournette bandwagon

If the draft value chart is to be trusted it would take 8, our first pick in the third and next year's first to move up to 2. However since no know one expects us to be on the top 10 next year our future first loses a lot of value so we would likely have to give up a second rounder and another 3rd as well. As much as I would love to have Garret or Fournette I don't know if they are worth that much.

Will always go pass rusher and secondary before RB..

Won't be upset if Lenard is the pick but value can be had in picking a RB later..

Especially in this deep draft...

I agree with this to an extent. If the choices are Reggie White, Ed Reed and Jim Brown(arguments sake all equally awesome talents) then yeah you take White then Reed then Brown. But if the choice is Charles Johnson, Mike Minter or Adrian Peterson then I think you take AP all day(I admit the second lineup is flawed but I was trying to illustrate good but not hall of fame guys vs HoFer).

So it really comes down to how the scouting department projects out the potential talent. If they grade Fournette as a 9.9/10 and Adams and Thomas let's say 8/10 I think you have to take Fournette because his personal upside is just better even if his position value isn't.

Not saying that's how the prospects will be graded but if that's how it ends up playing out I don't think you crucify the team for taking Fournette even if other higher value positions are available.

There is a reason why he is called the best running back since Adrian Peterson.  There is a reason he was the number one HS player in the country coming out.  He is an incredible talent and we would be very lucky to get him at 8.  He is a perfect fit for our team, because he is powerful enough to run through the lack of holes our OL creates.  I've watched him his whole career and when he explodes through the hole, very few catch him and even then aren't able to bring him down.  He's not elusive.  He is fast and powerful and will run like a faster Earl Campbell.  I would love to see him line up behind Cam.  Add the FB from the Ravens and a second TE and you will see power football at its finest.

Peterson never been to a Superbowl.. Neither did LT..

The days when the best RB can carry a team to a championship are over..

Look at the last superbowl..

Atlanta had Coleman, and Devante

The Pats have White and Blount..

Only Coleman was a high round pick (2nd)

    • I had started typing my post hours ago and didn’t finish it and just came back to finish it, posted it, then saw yours and saw we were pretty much saying the same thing - even the games that stick out to us most.  I don’t think a lot of people remember that SF playoff game, but I felt like I had just got mugged in broad daylight.  I remember them calling Mitchell for unnecessary roughness, and then I remember watching Boldin take a super late cheap shot, dead in front of the ref and then showing him watching the whole thing in replay…  the refs let them have a fuging field day and didn’t do jack poo, but if we so much as breathed the wrong way it was fuging 15 yards.  Each team playing under two completely different sets of rules.  poo hurt.  I was enraged.  I’ve never went back to watch either that game or SB50 and never will.  fuging robbery.
    • I’ve said it a million times since, but it’s impossible to keep them from affecting the game.  In SB50, they literally took the game from us, and they did it early.  Cotchery’s no-catch?  The miraculous amount of times we converted for a first down only to have it suddenly called back make it a 3rd down and 15+ against the best defense in the league that specialized in rushing the passer and man coverage on the back end?  And you do that enough times, you kill the morale and confidence of the team you’re doing it against.  It’s telling the one team “you can do whatever with impunity” and the other “you can’t do whatever they’re allowed to do.”  It changes the aggression level.  It essentially neuters one team and allows the other to do whatever the fug they want.  Imagine you call the police for help and they get there and tell you to sit still while the other party beats the poo out of you and you can’t defend yourself.  That’s what the officials do.  There is no way to avoid them affecting the game.  And more often than not, it’s the most subjective calls they use to do so.  Even in SB50…  you saw the Broncos commit more egregious penalties than anything we did, and barely any of it was called.  Their OL was holding all fuging game and the refs did nothing.  We already had our work cut out for us against two future HOF edge rushers and the refs played to their advantage with that.  From what I remember, both Oher and Remmers were called for holding at various times and their hands were in the INSIDE of the defender.  It was garbage, but all by design. Also, if there is any video of it anywhere, go look at what the refs did against us back in 2013 against SF.  The fix was in there too.  They stepped in early and often and ensured we knew we were not allowed to play with the same aggression or intensity SF was.  It was disgusting as well. at this point, I hope Vince McMahon, errr, I mean Goodell just finally scripts us to win it, because this poo is not won via competition or off merit.
    • You can go back to the New York Knicks somehow getting Patrick Ewing.  I saw a story where they place the New York Knick card in the freezer right before the drawing.  It was simple.  Show everyone the cards are undetectable to the human eye.  All they had to do was grab the coldest card. IMO ever since Goodell took over the NFL it has been fishy.  Patriots winning the SB after 9/11, New Orleans after Katrina and Peyton Manning's going away gift against us. The terrible calls during that game were blatantly one sided.  New England should have been stripped of their first 3 SB when they were caught spying on the other team in their SB wins.  I think the evidence against the Patriots was so damning Goodell felt it could ruin football and they brushed it under the table.   In the 2004 SB, How did we go from practically no yards in the first Quarter to setting a record in the 3rd Qtr.  Dan Henning changes the game plan.  IMO probably the greatest half time adjustment of all time.
