Anyone playing this and enjoying it as much as I am? Switch or WiiU? I picked up a Switch & BotW on launch day and outside of playing a couple of hours of Overwatch each week for my weekly rewards, I haven't really touched much else game wise for over a month now. I would estimate I've put about 60 hours in, and I don't really feel like I've put a dent in the game. I just downed my second Divine Beast last night (though I admittedly haven't been actively progressing through the main story). I spend far too much time climbing mountains and enjoying a different view of Hyrule, but it's also completely enjoyable at the same time. Biggest gripe is definitely frequency of rain in the game because it makes it impossible to climb. Other than that, it's hard to find many flaws with the experience.

Had my first "oh this is why I knew the Switch would be so awesome" moment a week or so ago. Had been playing exclusively on the TV since launch, but needed to go to a family members for a get together. Was one of those deals where I knew I would be sitting around not doing much after the initial pleasantries, so decided to bring my Switch along. Eventually found myself on the couch with a couple of my cousins sitting in front of the Switch taking turns until we died. Being able to play a game the scale of BotW in a portable format is just a feeling I haven't had in gaming in quite some time. I'm hestitant to label the game as one of the greatest experiences in gaming without finishing it, but it's hard to imagine I'll feel any less of it when I get to the end. I loved Horizon for the four days I played it before BotW came out, but now I can't find the time to get back to it. I'm sure I'll restart fresh on Horizon once I put BotW through its paces. That game deserves it, as its incredible in its own right.

Anyway, for those of you that have played (or hopefully are still playing BotW), what are your general thoughts? What's the coolest (non spoiler) thing you've found so far? For me it's probably Eventide Island. Something so cool about being sent back to square one after I had spent countless hours collecting gear, weapons and perfecting my culinary techniques.

I just started playing because I had to finish horizon zero dawn first. I'm still on the great plateau, but it's a really fun game so far

If you haven't left the Plateau and you like it, you should love the rest. I didn't really get drawn in until I finished that first 2.5 hours or so.

I'm now up to i think 50-60 shrines, and the rest I feel are going to be much harder to uncover. No worries, loving this game so much that I don't mind searching.

I have one more shrine on the plateau to finish. But I was able to kill the talus monster and I've been running around taking out outposts. I'm ready to get some stronger weapons though

Don't be afraid to use them once you get them. You get weapons constantly as long as you don't avoid camps. One other tip, is make sure you use magnesis around water. You'll likely find stuff.

Finally got to really play this weekend (me and my gf play together) and we were both really impressed. I was almost immediately won over, she had her trepidations seeing as they have added a lot of new features to this game.

IMO this is the best mix of creating a new, fun, and incredibly rich game as well as keeping the core concept of Zelda there, with plenty of throwbacks to previous games.

Playing on the Wii U and love it. The only time the game's frame rate drops for me is when I'm swimming.

That's actually better than the Switch at launch. They sent out a patch last week to fix the frame rate issues last week, but I haven't really had a chance to see if it made a difference yet. Game actually dipped a decent amount (never to unplayable levels) when docked on the TV, versus in handheld mode.

I've now downed three of the main dungeons but only at 70 shrines, so still a ton to do.

play without using fast travel, and you will experience alot more of the game.

I agree with this. It takes much longer, but you'll run into some really cool stuff along the way. Also can't stress enough climbing most objects in the game. There's usually some type of reward, even if it's just being able to see from a different vantage point.

Link is a weird Hylian Spiderman hybrid for a reason!

    • Ehh, new front office has 2 drafts under their belt -- Salaun draft class was really a horrible class in general, but Salaun has started to show some of his potential and KJ Simpson not bad for a 2nd round pick. This past draft clearly looks like it was knocked out of the fuging park obviously with Kon but also Sion and Kalk already contributing in somewhat big roles for late round picks. And McNeeley has shown potential and lit it up in summer league, seems to be doing well in the G league for a young guy too.      As for this season I think a very realistic goal and outcome of the regular season is sneaking up into a 7 or 8 seed and then winning 1 of 2 play-in games to make the real playoffs. Probably get cooked in round 1 but that playoff experience and establishing that expectation of winning is critical to the development of our young core.
    • Sound write-up MHS, as always.  Agree that the smart move that forward thinking franchises make would be drafting a tackle early, if not for sure in R1, depending on who's there. Based on early predictions we're choosing between Fano and Proctor. No brainer here...Fano all day. Proctor does not move the needle for me. In my mind, Icky has less future here than Brooks does. I love Icky, but he has been average as a top-10 pick, one good year where you saw the potential...and that was this year. He's built like a RT and his strengths are there, but he's always played left. I also feel like part of what has held him back from being elite, was his work ethic. He was known for it coming out, but feel like he fell right at home in Carolina and maybe didn't push himself as hard as he needed to. Throw in a major crucial injury that will take time to recover and a historical low return rate to current form, and the outlook is not great. Fano can play both sides and we need to also plan for Moton's departure. Either way, delaying drafting a tackle early this year will hurt us down the line. Our current OL is overpriced and needs to start adding draftees to start balancing out the inevitable changes coming in the next 2-3 years.  As others have said, maybe Icky can replace Hunt or Lewis in a couple years when he's fully recovered....IDK. Also not a guarantee, but then you have to figure out his contract and it becomes even more clouded.
    • It's past time to just eliminate it in terms of an event. Just do the voting, name the roster, and move on. When you get down to 6th and 7th alternates it's just absurd. It doesn't mean anything.
