FBGP's Building Through the NFL Draft: Panthers

Tabor in the 1st? with pick 8? Hard to believe but I guess its possible. I would probably get a DE like Thomas, Barnett, or Charlton at this point instead especially since you drafted another CB in the 5th round.

- Ross at 40 is almost impossible that he drops well into the 2nd round after posting the fastest 40 time ever at the combine

- Westbrook is a nice pick at the end of round 2. I get that you say its what you would do as a GM though, but I never seen the Panthers draft two offensive picks in a high round back to back in recent memory, much less two WR. But getting Ross and Westbrook would be amazing they are both arguably the best speed WR in this draft

- R3 : Never heard of him have to  do some research i guess. Its pretty much a given we'll be getting a RB in some round or another

- R4 Decent TE prospect

-R5: Another CB huh? Getting two CBs after getting 3 last year is kidna crazy but at  least this means we should be deep and good a CB for a good long while so its hard to argue aganinst it too much

R6 : Unknown DT for me but hey its the 6th round its pretty much  a crapshoot at this point

R7 : Oh okay.

So this draft is pretty good overall in terms of what I'd want for the team personally. I noticed you did not get a DE or a saftey while they aren't really immediate positions of need after all our FA signings, its something the teams going to be forced to adressed the following season with our older DEs and age, lack of talent at saftey besides Coleman.

Here's my latest draft. Trade down once with Cleveland for their pick 12 and r2 p1 (They picked up Myles Garret P1 and Corey Davis Pick P8) .

Round 1 Pick 12 (CLE): John Ross, WR, Washington (A-)
Round 2 Pick 1 (CLE): Garett Bolles, OT, Utah (A-)
Round 2 Pick 8: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California (B+)
Round 2 Pick 32: Budda Baker, FS, Washington (A)
Round 3 Pick 34 (COMP): Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE, Villanova (B+)
Round 4 Pick 8: Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson (A)
Round 5 Pick 8: D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas (A)
Round 6 Pick 8: Corn Elder, CB, Miami (Fla.) (A-)
Round 7 Pick 15: Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State (B)

I like the presentation, but not a fan of any of this except for Ross in the 2nd, but that will not happen at 40.

  • No way Tabor goes at 8. The UF corners are pretty pedestrian this year and if we're going CB at 8 (God I hope not) it should be Lattimore or White.
  • Ross won't be there at 40.
  • Westbrook after taking a speedster to enhance our WR unit after we gave up Ealy for that selection?
  • Williams is decent and think he will be a solid RB, so no issue with this pick.
  • Gerald Everett is a faster version of Funchess and more akin to Washington's Reed, so not really what our offense needs. We need more of a balanced TE like Howard or Shaheen.
  • I don't mind a DB in R5, but after using our 8th pick on him, definitely don't want to double down with Bradberry, Tabor, Worley, and Captain on board.
  • By R6, can't hate the depth DT selection especially with one of Star or KK not here after 2017. Butler should be a starter by '18, but more depth in the trenches is good.
  • Can't say I've heard of Humphries, so nicely done on putting a FCS guy on the radar. Nothing wrong with a camp body to push for the QB3 duties down the line, and maybe up to QB2.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
