At the end of the video, thats Pep he's talking about. Besides not playing like he dont want to be here, cause he didnt, if you watch him... he second guess way too much. Instead of just attacking like Freeny. The game moves too fast to be second guessing. To be playing the run and they fake it, or playing the pass, and they run it. Thats why dude dont be in position as he once once was. I also think Pep need to move back to LE for most of the time, not RE

not sure if that was Pep or just the DL in general. Pep doesn't appear to be looking for the run when a lot of guys are rushing though on some plays......wish we have the added luxery off knowing what he is being told to do.

Im Beastson, and this is my opinion On Peppers problem

I've seen plenty of times where Pep just rush a little bit and look to see if they will run, then attack

but, we don't know what he is asked to do......but clearly he is looking for the run and screens while others rush.

If thats the case, if you have someone like Freeny who just know to attack only on every play and Pep is being asked to maintain his lane to help run support, should he get a lot of blame

You are correct, we dont know. Me personally, I think its just him

Pep played a terrible game, but you only wish he was the only guy responsible for our horrible Dline woes. deep down you know that's not the case

Freeney wasn't probably b/c he simply isn't very good against the run....and really is just a pass rushing specialist (one of the best). We know Carolina overall has liked to use Peppers in a lot of assignments that have little to do with getting to the QB....I think it will always be a healthty combo with Pep now. The DL isn't that great and they ask him to do a lot besides only committing to the QB b/c he has the talent.........he doesn't seem to enjoy that roll in Carolina....has voiced it and doesn't give it his all. Pep deserves blame though. But nobody outside Davis on defense has looked good each week. Pep looked like an allstar week 1. I don't think Beason has looked that great either......but people like Beason.......and they are willing to find excuses for him also b/c they know he gives it his all. Pep even if given it his all like before mid 06 still looked like he was going at 80%.....plays were just being made.

If you watch the game again, you'll see Brayton right now, is our best pass rusher...and there's so much wrong with that

Idk, I think Charles and Davis was the best rushing that night

Which just furthers my point. Johnson need to start. Rotating over and over again is taking away what he brings and to get better with much more PT

How about the beginning of the video. He said something about this defense is a "bend dont break defense" ........ Thats the problem!!! Something we have know, but annoying to hear them say it. I am tired of that style of football. Watch teams go up and down the field, giving teams first downs hoping to hold them to a FG or getting a turnover to prevent a score. Ridiculus. Even when teams dont score or turn it over, they give up a couple of first down before forcing a punt therefor changing up the field position. I dont think they have forced a 3 and out all season, and definately didnt against the Cowboys. Just once, or twice that could have helped when the Cowboys were deep in their end.

The Panther defense will not change, improve significanly or being good consistently as long as they continue to play this style and that wont change as long as Fox is here.

Brayton was a first round pick back in the day. He has talent and seems to be putting it to use right now. I love his motor he just keeps going unlike peppers.

    • I hope Bryce balls out. Wouldn't bet the farm on it though. Morgan has to be practical though. He was placed into a situation where he was compelled to give Bryce a long look. There really haven't been any more practical options due to who has been available at the position. The Panthers had already put their chips in with Bryce, so putting more chips in by borrowing against the future and stacking on that by borrowing against the future without really having the requisite draft capital was a nonstarter. We could either dump Bryce and go dumpster diving for known and unknown JAGs at the position, or take out chances and let it play out with Bryce and hope for acceptable returns. Due to what looks like some good moves in the draft and free agency, it appears like we're finally getting into a position where we can take a swing again if need be without destroying the core of the team. I understand that you'll believe it when you see it, but Dan is gonna move on if Bryce can't cut it. There are too many professionals lives and careers tied to Bryce to simply accept the status quo.
    • Football is the ultimate team sport. No sport is more dependent on others for your success - including coaching. I don't know if Bryce is the guy, but I do know this has been a very bad team all around since he got here. One of the worst o-lines and coaching staffs I've ever seen his rookie year. One of the worst defenses and receiving groups (including TEs) I've ever seen his 2nd season - with a rookie HC and OC. An improving WR group his 3rd season mostly due to a rookie. The only other WR of note didn't really play well until after the 10th game of the season due to injury. Still no receiving TE to speak of. And lost games because of the worst pass rush in the NFL. And the only speed he's ever had on the field was DJ Chark. A washed up DJ Chark that played here one year and has had 31 yards receiving since leaving.  Carolina had no business moving up for a QB in 2023. They weren't ready. Especially if it meant trading your only good WR to do it. Now finally there's potential on defense. Potential on o-line. Potential at WR, including some actual speed in a game where speed kills. If BY falls on his face this season, then he has to own it. Situation may not be perfect, but it's at least NFL average across the board. I won't beat him up for being bad in bad situations on a bad team. But a 4th year QB has to be able to control the offense and make players/coaches right. The team looks good enough on paper to show what he can do now.
