It wasn't adequate enough, obviously.

TD had a football for an arm, and they got gassed because they were on the field so much. They did a decent enough job but Denver's D just continued to stonewall us. Not because we didn't have the weapons, because we clearly did.

The defense only gave up 3 points in the SB....the offense turning the ball over in the opponents red zone wasn't the defenses fault.

I agree, but give Denver's D some credit for forcing our turnovers/ending drives.

So we should draft Mike Williams or Corey Davis?

Nope a 2 TE that can block and catch

Denver's defense ate us alive

Offense lack of talent is the reason more so than Denver

Panthes had below league standard OTs that where basically turnstiles, we didn't need all pro tackles but ones that could sustain block long enough for Cam to get the ball out or even survey the field instead of having free rushers in his face instantly.

Panthers fielded basically cast of #3 &4 WRs that created no separation and in routes and where to able to stretch the defense

(look what happened to Denver when they faced legit offense with decent OL and WRs  like ATL , Patriots Tampa & Saints that where able to stretch them aka Loss)

Without any actual threat in the passing game they where able to stack the box and focusing on stopping the run .

I want to eat other team's QBs alive... especially Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Jameis Winston. We already have the offensive talent to hang with those teams, and I'd rather get help on the other side of the ball to (hopefully) increase our chances of at least 6 wins a season.

Look what happened to Seattle and Denver defense both who won the SB but suffered big time when they lost Lynch and Anderson.

The easiest way to the playoffs is to win your division. Ask the Patriots.

Oh the irony Patriots are a offense first team, just look at all the great defense like Jets, Bill , Dolphins try to field but none couldn't stop the Pats because they lacked offense

I won't be disappointed in Fournette, Howard, or even McCaffrey. So no need to keep bumping the font size up. It doesn't prove anything by doing that, lol.

Completely right op, you either stop the pass or you have a great passing attack. We don't need to put all our chips in both 2nd year corners getting better, that doesn't leave a backup plan for injuries or regression. Hooker and Lattimore should be in strong consideration at 8, however I don't think either are unfortunately(hopefully I'm wrong). Barring thomas or Barnett are higher on our list. I think we spend our 1st on defense, and use our two 2nds for offense.

What happened to Denver defense when it faced actual legit offense ? They lost

Hell they almost lost Patriots that year if it wasn't the running touchdown by Anderson. .

Your theory is far off

IMO, several things can win championships.

Denver had one of the best passing attacks in the NFL for several years but only made it to the SB once, and got blown out.  They finally won it with a great d and an offense that didn't screw things up.

Seattle won their championship with tremendous defense, good rushing attack, and a barely adequate passing attack.

New England won with a great passing attack and an adequate defense. Of course, they had one of the best all time QB's in NFL history.

The Giants won their last one by holding their opponents to 14 points a game in the post season and not turning the ball over much.

The way you win superbowls is to pick talented players and adapt your style of play to their talents.  Or to pick talented players whose abilities fit the style you want to play.  Add in a little luck, especially when it comes to not getting players injured, and you end up with a chance to win the superbowl.

Hell, we made it to the SB two years on our defense's back...and Cam's absolute refusal to lose.

I don't care if we go defense the rest of the draft , I want offense in R1 our offense needs some juice.

If they go all defense again pretty much this year, don't come crying to me when we can't move the ball for poo because we chose to surround Cam with scrub offense players and weak tackles.

@Bronn also Panther led the league in sacks its was the pass defense that held the defense back . With experience gained they shoud be top 10 again .

You need more points than oppents to win the game.

Offense and defense wins Championships since this is a team game after all right ?

Patriots were #1 in scoring defense last year. They were also #8 in yards allowed. If you keep teams from scoring or gaining yards, you can usually find a way to get points of your own.

They let the Falcons come out and score in the middle of the game, yes. But then they held on and let their offense (led by a QB with time to throw the ball) play catch up. New England had one TE, a RB by committee, and a bunch of nobody's on any other team at WR. They let their star QB dissect the Falcons' secondary.

There are no Julio Jones' in this draft that will propel our offense back to the top. We're going to have to play Ron Rivera/Carolina Panthers football, which is strong on defense while hoping the offense can execute.

All that said, I'd still be happy with Fournette, Howard, or McCaffrey. So, I don't really know what you're arguing about other than how I ranked how I think we'll approach it. IIRC, Fournette was my second option behind DL. I only have three guys ahead of him on my board. Howard is a little further down, yes, but that is because we have an all world TE already.

There aren't many two TE teams finding success in the NFL right now. I don't know why you keep saying this is the route to go, other than some sort of infatuation with Howard.

To open up our offense, we need a WR that tries every down, and a solid #2 and #3 to back him up. We also need to give our QB time in the pocket.

If we go RB or TE, we could pretty much be foregoing need in favor of luxury. That isn't necessarily world ending, because it is too early for Ramczyk or the WRs at 8, but I think we have more of a need on defense than most are aware of.

We were the number one scoring offense in football in 2015, and Denver whipped that offense's ass when it came to championship time.

Give me three teams that feature two TEs as a part of their offense, and please provide their annual offensive ranking for the past three years.

lol...

Who exactly do you want the Panthers to draft to improve our offense. Go ahead and give me your top 5 choices if we stay put at #8.

Thanks to  the defense creating high turnover and good field position

Cam running ability masked a lot of the deficiencies.

If Panthers had adequate OL and real WRs they would have beaten that vaunted defense
