Has a player ever come out of retirement during the season? Are there rules against this?

 

This is obviously an off-season Steve Smith Sr. thread..

He retired a free agent.  If we were to be in a deep playoff run position in say, week 13.. would it be possible for him to un-retire and be game ready by the post season?

No, there aren't rules against it

No, Smitty won't do it (would be very very surprised and happy to eat crow if he did)

I highly doubt he would, either.

I assume THIS would be the only season this would be possible due to his age / freshness.

How many plays must a player play during the regular season to be eligible for receival of a super bowl ring?
