How hard is it to be an OC?

When you have at least 10 potent offenses to copy?

We have speed in Byrd, Samuel, and CMC yet I see no crossing routes or drags across the zones.

We have Funchess and KB who tower over CBs. For example, yesterday KB was matched on a CB who was 5'10" in the red zone. We finally got an attempt at a backshoulder jump ball that got us PI and 1st and goal. Did we go back at him? No! Yet I watch Dez Bryant matches up on Aquib Talib and score on a backshoulder fade. Yes later Talib got a pick six but it was a horrible throw.

Running the ball up the middle with stewart on first down isn't a good play call, it's expected and shut down accordingly. How about play action on first down?

Slants to KB are great and he picked up 4 first downs on them. Again these are expected! Why not throw these same routes to Samuel or Byrd who are the better mismatch speedster types?

We played the #2 defense yesterday, but there were opportunities. HC Ron Rivera said he wanted to see more plays with Byrd and Samuel. It didn't come to fruition.

My bone to pick is this, and it's also why I have no faith in Shula as an OC..... if you're playing your former DC, who intimately knows what we do, this is when you unleash the dogs, and show them that we aren't the same offense we once were.

Buffalo's pass rush was vicious! How many screen plays were used to soften or hasten their aggressive style? Why wasn't a hurry up offense established to get us a rythym?

We literally have one more preseason scrimmage vs the Saints to get this fixed. They have the worst D in the entire NFL. This poo ain't gonna fly week 4 when we travel to NE

Please spare me the excuses, I've watched the games with homer glasses off. Yes we've done some good things, but there's a ton of room for improvement. I expect us to get better, but with Olsen now out of the equation, thy just got a bit harder now that there's no need to bracket him, which will make it that much harder for us to keep doing the same ole ish

I'm tired of watching offenses move the ball well with less talent than we have. It's frustrating

To answer the original question...it's very hard.

To add, I'm frustrated with Shula's/Ron's development so far on the offensive side of the ball.

Shula has been here quite a while now, with the most important player as well...and they aren't seeming to get better.

We shouldn't be seeing delay of game penalties at home.  Defenses shouldn't know that on 1st we are going to slam Stew up the guy over and over again.  Defenses should be scared to death of 2nd and 1....what do we do?  Go for the easy button.

When you need a TD to ice it and have 4 plays from the 1 yard line and can't score... It's just plain inexcusable. We saw the same damn thing in the Bucs game last year. I don't think it's crazy to think the average Joe here on the huddle could be a better play caller than Shula and that's very sad.

I agree, and it's not like our offense practices against a shitty D everyday.

They are going against one of the best in the league...and still nothing.

Honestly having a OC for this long says something. A NFL team would have taken him of he was half good. Also defensive coaches always pick a mundane OC that will do nothing.

I, like most others, was frustrated with the lack of offensive production yesterday.  However, we were able to move the ball and dominate time of possession against BUF.  Sure TOP doesn't win you games, you must execute and finish drives with 6 to do that (at least usually).

With that being said though, I'm not pressing the panic button.  The bills have an above average defense and Cam is still trying to shake the rust off.  A team isn't defined in 2 weeks, it's a long season.....I will however start to worry if the offense can't get on track against NO.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
