A bright spot if we end up losing Sunday...

Finally a reality...if Cleveland doesn't hire him. Updated with some additional comments from this year.

It means we are going to be in for some new Coors Light commercials starring our ex-Coach, John Fox. I'm picturing it now.

Commercial One

*The scene is the typical press conference*

Coors Light Guys: "Hey Coach Fox, what do you think about the Coors Light can where the mountains turn blue when the beer gets cold"?

Fox: "It is what it is."

Coors Light Guys: "Is Coors Light the most refreshing beer you've ever had?"

Fox: "It is what it is."

Coors Light Guys: "Do you say anything other than *in a mocking Fox voice* "It is what it is"?

Fox: "I don't really know how to answer that question. We'll have to go back and look at the tape."

Commerical Two

Coors Light Guy: Coach Fox, how come there was only a six pack of Coors Light available for everyone to share at this press conference?

Fox: "We've got a budget, and that had something to do with it".

Coors Light Guy: Coach Fox, we can't find the delivery guy to order more Coors Light. Did this budget that you're referring to mean that he no longer has a job?

Fox: "You'd have to ask someone in the personnel department about that".

Coors Light Guy: "Do you think we can find a way to get some more Coors Light or this more of a day to day situation?"

Fox: "Day-to-day means kind of where we’re at today is where we are, and we’ll take it day-to-day."

Coors Light Guy: "This isn't much of a party without Coors Light".

Fox: "We are what we are and that is what I'm trying to change so we're not that"

Coors Light Guys: "Coach Fox,we know beer won't go on sale till 12,and it's gameday, and were all heading to the Huddle Tailgate to eat some Turds, but someone has opened your 18 pack of cold Coors Light and drank two of them" Coach Fox: "I think there is a sense of urgency every week. There are only 16 of these and they are all important"

Coors Light Guys: " Coach Fox,do you, your coaches and friends know that cold Coor's Light has almost no calories, and has it written right there on the label?" Coach Fox: "That stat doesn't alarm me as much as it might the everyday fan or you guys (media) or people who don't look at it every day

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
